Schiff suggests Trump has 'financial motives' that influence Saudi Arabia policy

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 10/21/18 10:35 AM EDT

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Sunday questioned whether the Trump administration's rhetoric and actions toward Saudi Arabia may be influenced by the Trump family's finances, and called for Congress to look into the matter.

Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said on ABC's "This Week" that "we in the intelligence community" should look into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"We also ought to determine whether financial motives are motivating the president and the first family," he continued.

"This is the very problem with the president not releasing his tax returns," Schiff said. "It leaves the American people wondering, is U.S.-Saudi policy being driven by something other than national interests."

Republicans have learned a long time ago that you do not have to have proof of anything...to say it out loud, and like you mean it. To make accusations that sound outrageous. And while Democrats are stuttering and whining about the accusations being false all day on TV, the GOP are already planning tomorrows outrageous talking points. There is never enough time to adequately debunk ANYTHING. And we are always on the defensive.

Enough of "suggesting". Why not just shout it out that Trump IS compromised by his money ties to the Saudis! Find some of his main business contacts there and throw out names. Have them come on air stuttering and wide eyed and outraged for a change at such strong statements.

Seriously what is the worst that can happen? Are they going to sue for libel? Do we sue every time for libel? Never happens.

‘I love the Saudis’: Trump business ties to kingdom run deep
By Bernard Condon, Stephen Braun and Tami Abdollah?|?AP
October 12

NEW YORK — He’s booked hotel rooms and meeting spaces to them, sold an entire floor in one of his buildings to them and, in desperate moments in his career, gotten a billionaire from the country to buy his yacht and New York’s Plaza Hotel overlooking Central Park.

President Donald Trump’s ties to Saudi Arabia run long and deep, and he’s often boasted about his business ties with the kingdom.

“I love the Saudis,” Trump said when announcing his presidential run at Trump Tower in 2015. “Many are in this building.”

“The Saudis are funneling money to him,” said former federal ethics chief Walter Shaub, who is advising a watchdog group suing Trump for foreign government ties to his business. That undermines “confidence that he’s going to do the right thing when it comes to Khashoggi.”

Trump paid his first foreign visit as president to Saudi Arabia last year, praised its new young ruler and boasted of striking a deal to sell $110 billion of U.S. weapons to the kingdom.

The president’s links to Saudi billionaires and princes go back years, and appear to have only deepened.

in the Democratic party who the media will have on their shows... and he is doing what needs to be done, keep pointing out why this is not normal and needs to be addressed, should have been already. Sure, it's obvious to us, but these things need to be repeated whenever possible, THAT is our message, to point out the wrongness loudly while citing actual law and (used to be) shared values.

Those of you calling the Rep. out for stating the obvious are complaining about getting what you have been demanding.

Moral of the story: Make it an absolute and strictly enforced prerequisite for running for the presidency that all candidates release their tax returns - or else they're automatically disqualified! If we haven't seen Trump's tax returns, we have absolutely NO way of knowing what kind of financial s#*thole he's in! But financial s#*thole or not, we DO know that Trump LOVES money, and is out to use the presidency to shovel as much money into his own pockets as he can - and everything, and everyone else be damned. Case closed!

Once they have an abundance of fresh water- their deserts will bloom.

The rising sea levels benefit that area of the world in a major way.

Rising sea levels also will benefit the black sea and Russia knows this.

Make them work outside nights while the "Leaders" relax inside their compounds.

Plants will love the new North & South pole greenbelt.

The Northwest passage will be the trading hub of the "Last Free People of the World"

Everyone will try to migrate to Northern Canada or Northern Russia & N. Asia

Saudi Arabia will be less hot because they'll flood their lands with fresh water & greenery.

Miles of contained cooled areas with solar energy & heated steam power energy.

31. two things:
Sun Oct 21, 2018, 04:55 PM
Oct 2018

1) 43 C = 110 F. We're already there, lots of places and of course in Saudi Arabia. Unpleasant but survivable if precautions are taken.

Predicted temp of 60 C = 140 F different kettle of fish PARTICULARLY if Saudi Arabia floods their lands "with fresh water & greenery" * For one thing, since water vapor is a green house gas, the bloomin' desert won't cool at night, just as coastal regions don't now.

2) Adding moisture doesn't "cool" anything, it just makes it seem like it, due to the evaporation of moisture from the skin. But at 100% humidity we get the wet-bulb effect of high temps and high humidity, and no evaporation: "When the wet-bulb temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius the human body can not remove heat sufficiently so undergoes thermal runaway of core body temperature leading to rapid death."

*as for the desert blooming, plants also have a maximum temp, particularly food plants. Heat waves can do incredible damage to even the most heat tolerant shrubs and flowers, but it's especially damaging to vegetables and fruit (basically they go through their life cycle too quickly to actually produce crops)....The optimum temperature for photosynthesis is 77°F (25°C). (Plants growing in a CO2 enriched environment thrive in slightly warmer conditions-82°F (28°C.)) Rates of photosynthesis drop off sharply if temperatures rise above these points. At about 110 it is essentially zero.

That desert ain't gonna be blooming and the Saudis are a f@cked as the rest of us, if not more so.

let alone a despotic and decadent regime like that one. I just think it is wildly misplaced. The royal family--and the rich around the world--may think they can just pay their way out of our collective fix, but I don't think they have either an idea or a clue as to what they will be facing. Climate will be the least of it.
