Mega Millions $1.6 billion winning ticket sold in South Carolina, state lottery says
Source: The State (Columbia)
The South Carolina Education Lottery is reporting that a winning ticket to the $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot was sold in the Palmetto State.
As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, the Mega Millions website had not confirmed that there was a winner, but it did not refute the S.C. Lotterys claim. The Mega Millions site said the next estimated jackpot was pending, after announcing the winning numbers 5, 28, 62, 65 ,70 and a mega number 5.
Other than in South Carolina, no other winning tickets had been reported. Unlike many other state lotteries, including North Carolinas, South Carolina does not identify winners of lottery games, reported The Charlotte Observer.
Lottery officials will release more information later Wednesday, ABC News reported.

(129,087 posts)because this is "national news" given it was for a record amount.
But be prepared anyway.
I actually won $4 (had a ticket with 1 number and the megaball #...lol)

The coolest thing was when I asked others what they'd do with the money if they won, everyone said they'd give it away, help their family, friends, etc, not spend it all on themselves.

(129,087 posts)You could always spend that on 5 Powerball tickets (drawing tonight).
I did see news articles where there were a bunch of folks who claimed that they were willing to give away money - particularly some who they asked who worked at social service organizations... although sometimes that is a harder choice to make than they think if they did win.

(9,893 posts)drawings now in the past week I've managed to get not one number. I guess that $40 scratch off in the spring was my lifetime supply of lottery luck.

(129,087 posts)I only play when there are huge jackpots. But what is funny this go-around, I got both Powerball and Megamillions tickets and my Megamillions tickets kept getting several of the correct Powerball numbers and vice versa.
