Trump says Pittsburgh shooting appears to be 'anti-Semitic crime'

President Trump said Saturday that a shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh that left multiple people dead appears to be an "anti-Semitic crime."
“What happened today is a horrible, horrible thing," Trump told reporters after stepping off Air Force One in Indianapolis, Ind., according to White House pool reports. “It looks definitely like it’s an anti-Semitic crime. That is something you wouldn’t believe could still be going on," Trump added.
Trump's remarks came shortly after Vice President Pence similarly condemned the shooting while speaking in Las Vegas, saying, "There is no place in America for violence or anti-Semitism."
The suspect in the synagogue shooting reportedly made an anti-Semitic remark before opening fire, shouting "all Jews must die" as he entered the building, local CBS affiliate KDKA reported.

The suspect in a shooting at a Squirrel Hill synagogue that killed up to eight people and injured six others, including at least four police officers, is Robert Bowers of Pittsburgh.
Bowers, 46, was shot in the torso by police and is being treated at Allegheny General Hospital for the wound, sources told Channel 11’s Rick Earle.
Police surrounded the building, and at some point there was an exchange of gunfire with Bowers after SWAT team personnel entered the synagogue. Police said Bowers was carrying one rifle and three handguns.
