Sherrod Brown 'Seriously' Considering 2020 Run, Cites 'Crescendo' Of Support

Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is “seriously” considering a bid for the presidency in 2020, saying on Monday that he’s reached a “crescendo” of support for such a campaign.

Brown, who won his Senate race for reelection last week, told the Columbus Dispatch that his first priority is to focus on reaching out to American workers.

“We’ll see later on about the presidential race,” said Brown. “But we are thinking about it for the first time seriously.”

The Democrat pointed to “sort of a crescendo” of support for a presidential campaign via calls and emails.

I voted for Hillary in 2016 because I wanted a woman to become President. Even though she should be the person leading our country right now, I don't think she should run again. Nor do I think that any white male should run. I think we should have a woman of color at the top of the ticket and a strong progressive (Elizabeth Warren?) to back her up as the VP. I think any of the men considering a run should step aside and find a qualified woman to stand behind. I can think of a number who fit the bill from Kamala Harris to Oprah (though I would much prefer someone who has already been a public servant to someone who an buy their way into politics).

And I do no want Independents running as Democrats. I don't want candidates back stabbing other candidates during the primary. And I don't want any nominee who does not campaign for down ballot Democrats.

Only downside is that DeWine would select his replacement if he actually won.

Brown is a hero in Ohio and his working class reputation in these neighboring states would have made a difference. It's all Monday morning quarterbacking but it might have been just enough to overcome Comey and Putin.

I see your point about Sherrod Brown. I just think that Comey and Putting did extraordinary damage that overrode all other considerations.

A debate & campaign between Brown, a genuine, populist economist (Yale) and Trump would be a shitshow for Trump & the repugs. Brown consistently wins the vote in Ohio, now a red state, by large, impenetrable margins. He has everything we need.

Brown has always been the progressive's most likeable, accessible, effective messenger(eg. Brown;s "corporate freeloader tax&quot yet has stayed out of the spotlight. In my opinion, Brown has everything it takes and more to both defeat Trump and begin to heal this Country. I do hope Brown steps out & up in 2019 bkz he'll win in 2020.

The Al Franken RailRoad. And I have to bring it up as many want to believe only Gilli is to blame. But she is not... And anytime that list of senators make 2020 speculation I am bringing it up.

Still with Al and the idea of Al.
