Special counsel Robert Mueller just filed a new 3,000-word sealed motion in secret subpoena case

Special counsel Robert Mueller just filed a new and extensive motion that is being kept under seal for the grand jury, according to Politico reporter Darren Samuelsohn.

The reporter posted a screen capture from the update showing Mueller made the November update as part of “Case Name: In re: Grand Jury Subpoena.” It explained, “The following transaction was entered on 11/20/2018 3:49:22 PM EST and filed on 11/20/2018.”

Politico has been following the secret subpoena as Mueller was locked in some kind of dispute with a witness, who is refusing to give up information requested by the investigators. The information is all under seal, so it makes it difficult for the public to track any specific information other than, the filings and procedures entered into the public record. Because the witness is refusing to cooperate, a process of elimination can likely gather who the witness is not, but that still leaves a number of possibilities.

“This can get a step or two weirder than it already is,” said one attorney working for a senior staffer of President Donald Trump for the Russia inquiry. The lawyer recalled a case from a previous investigation where he couldn’t even get to see a judge’s opinion because it was under seal.

Who after initially entering in a plea deal in exchange for information about the case is now indicating publicly he doesn't want to serve his 14 day sentence?

Nothing there needs the shield of secrecy.

Could be trump. If the federal court in dc approved a subpoena, it would make sense it would be sealed pending scotus meddling.

That would make sense for a sealed indictment. Someone like asange might fit, where they don't want it public until something else happens.

Probably not junior or dtone. This is part of the legal ping pong that has been going on with hot rails on the federal bench.

Trump males the most sense, but isn't the only option here. And tiny did rail against that court while his turkey pardon unrolled.

There would have to be a motion to quash by the target of the subpoena, followed by a ruling on the motion, followed by an appeal.

I really don’t want to watch another cable news show until the day that Mueller actually comes out and tells us what exactly he has discovered . Until then, Chris and Ari and Lawrence and even Rachel aren’t holding my attention anymore. It’s just blah blah blah.

I just want it to be over.

The page limitation for a brief accompanying or opposing a motion in DC District court is 45 pages; replies can be up to 25 pages.
