MOSCOW (AP) — A top official at Russia's cybersecurity agency has offered to publish its communications with American counterparts during the 2016 U.S. election campaign.

Nikolai Murashov, a deputy head of the Russian National Coordinating Center for Computer Incidents, said Tuesday that the first U.S. official request regarding the hacking into the Democratic National Committee came on Oct. 31, 2016. He said his agency provided specific answers in response to the U.S. query and subsequent requests.

Murashov added that his agency was ready to release its correspondence with U.S. authorities if Washington agrees.

U.S. prosecutors have indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officers on charges of hacking into Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and the Democratic Party in an attempt to influence the vote. The Kremlin has denied the accusations.

They are only offering to release communications that show that they feigned cooperation, they aren't going to admit what they did, they are only going to try to carry on a facade of cooperation, much like, when they denied that the men poisoned anyone or that the poison came from Russia to the UK

First of all, wow!

Second of all, how can we believe a word of it? Unless, of course, they can be compared to what the NSA might have collected. In which case it doesn't matter because there's not a chance in hell that they would reveal that under any circumstances. Although, if that turns out to be the case, can you just imagine the discussions that might be held to address this?

And, if it's not verifiable, it's simply not trustworthy, even if it manages to confirm what those of us in the reality-based universe believe to be true.

Just more major fuckery by the Russians.

addressing the biggest threat to the Western way of life is not an option. Sanctions will become an awful lot tougher, and he'll get his cyber ass handed to him.
