McConnell warns against shutdown after fiery White House meeting

Source: The Hill

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 12/11/18 02:50 PM EST

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday warned that the American people don’t want to see a partial government shutdown and expressed hope it could be avoided hours after President Trump in a meeting with Democratic leaders said he was willing to shut down the government for tougher border security.

“I hope that’s not where we end up. I understand it was a rather spirited meeting,” McConnell told reporters when asked by reporters about Trump’s threat. McConnell later warned that forcing a shutdown would be a political mistake for either side in the battle over funding for a wall on Mexico's border.

“One thing I think is pretty clear no matter who precipitates the government shutdown is the American people don’t like it,” he said.

“I hope that will be a voided and both sides understand that’s not a great way to end what has in my opinion has been the most successful Congress, right of center,” he added.

to ensure that his Party's rank and file could pass legislation...guess he's not much of a Speaker. Scalise isn't much good at playing House Whip either, it seems. They've only had a majority in both houses for ten freaking years...couldn't even pass a budget.

Successful at what?

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, MITCH?

NOTHING!

Nobody wants your agenda - nobody wants your wall - and people are getting pizzed at their "tax break!"

Have your corporate buddies and 1% build your wall - but make it a smaller, circular wall with you and them inside it!

Way to go, Nancy and Chuck!!!!!!

Someone should point Mitch in the general direction of the incoming House membership, which would sort of indicate the American people were not quite happy with the Most Successful Congress, Right of Center.
