Hillary Clinton slams Trump's Syria withdrawal: ‘This President is putting our national security at grave risk’

BY TAL AXELROD - 12/21/18 10:28 AM EST

Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said the White House’s announcement that it would begin to withdraw troops from Syria would put the U.S. at risk.

“Actions have consequences, and whether we’re in Syria or not, the people who want to harm us are there & at war. Isolationism is weakness. Empowering ISIS is dangerous. Playing into Russia & Iran’s hands is foolish. This President is putting our national security at grave risk,” she tweeted.

I was just thinking this morning what she and our other President Obama were thinking re. all of this. It's time she pipes up, and not a second too soon.

Sweet God, what we lost. What was freakin’ STOLEN from us!

What could have been. What SHOULD have been. She was fucking ROBBED. And she was the most experienced, most fit, most ready, most prepared, most capable presidential nominee we’ve had in decades. Maybe ever - according to multiple quotes I’ve read, in reporting, opinion pieces and other commentary, and even tweets.

We were ALL robbed.

I try to remember her and ALL the 25+ years of the ugliest of people (the gop ) w AAALLL their money and fox news, just destroying her. All for trying to be the first to champion insurance for all...AS FIRST LADY. (Compare that to 'be best') Decades of Public Service, and a Sec of State. So smart. So caring about all of us. The gop KNEW she was going to have their scalps. And she just still might.
She's the strongest woman I know. Her pantsuits didn't bother me, nor the pictures that were published of her (ALWAYS the worst look on her little face). If I had to give it all for someone, it'd be herself, or the Obamas. And I DO mean it ALL.
I'm glad you still adore her, me too. I hope she knows how much she is loved. I'm ashamed this nation just moved right on. I think America needs to dialog about the fairness of what we allowed to happen, and how we make it right w HER. She won. Cheating shouldn't be rewarded.
Expect for HER what we'd expect for OURSELVES from the most educated, compassionate, and stalwart people and nation in the world.
Seasons Greetings Calimary.

FUCK ME!

How different this all could have been from the dystopian reality we all knew would occur if Individual-1 became POTUS.

Some die-hard anti-Hillary person, praising this decision to pull out of Syria and saying that it confirms their belief that Trump would make a less dangerous president than Hillary.

I'm looking at you, Susan Sarandon.

The 2003 invasion of Iraq was a colossal strategic blunder based on lies and the ignorance of neocon groupthink.

The rise of ISIS was a direct result of that US military intervention, and the people who live there continue to suffer 15 years later.

We broke it but we cannot fix it. If the Russians want to pour their blood and treasure into the sand, let them.

I wish she wasn't so much of an isolationist herself.

I don't know if it was still about being polite, not breaking the traditional unspoken laws about speaking ill of your competitor after you lost. But for fucks sake, that hasn't stopped the 'winner' from continuing to crap on the 'loser' for two years running now.

What I would have liked to see is every time Trump does some major policy announcement or decision like this, she came on, not only on twitter, but a press conference and just reminded everyone what they were missing. With a calm reasoned voice just say what she would be doing and why. I don't care if Trump used all caps in his next Tweet screaming about how she should just shut up because she didn't win. Just keep putting out the image of what a real President acts like, how they would handle it, and what a real President says.
