Graham sees potential for deal to end shutdown

Source: Politico

By DAVID COHEN 12/30/2018 09:32 AM EST

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday on CNN a compromise on border security that “might save the day in the Senate” was possible in the Senate.

“At the end of the day, there’s a deal to be had,” he said to “State of the Union” host Dana Bush, adding, “We need to start talking again.“

Graham described the outlines of a potential deal that would exchange funding for a border wall, as sought by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans, in exchange for protections for those known as Dreamers, those undocumented immigrants who have grown up in the U.S. after being brought here as young children. Those protections have been sought by Democrats on the Hill.

The battle over funding for a border wall, which the House approved but the Senate did not, has led to a partial government shutdown over the Christmas holidays, with no end in sight.

I wish Graham would STFU, seriously.

Nancy P knows what she is doing. Asswipe Graham is trying to beat her to the punch inorder to save what little decency the fucked Republicans has, if any exists anymore.

Republicans rejected it. Did Dana mention that obvious fact to Lyndsey?

The Freedumb caucus isn't going to vote for that. Democrats should tell Lyndsey when he gets the Freedumb caucus to agree on the Dreamer deal to come back.

Trump should endorse a specific proposal and stick to it... and anything we may have been prepared to settle has been taken off the table so we won’t be returning to those terms to help alleviate the pressure on the GOP.

The gloves are off, Comrade Lindsey.

If you want to shift some DOD money to better patrols of the border with (unarmed) drones then thats fine but otherwise stop the bullshit of trying to shift the problems your Repugnant party has created in this country onto the backs of people coming here illegally.

and then I would never spend another cent on it. 5 Billion is a lot of money but a tiny fraction of what we waste on the military every year. I would make that trade on behalf of hundreds of thousands of young people whose life has been made miserable by Republican efforts to deport them after they grew up as Americans but for a piece of paper.

Sniveling cowards of the GOP are evil assholes who know their base are blacked out to Democrats, and blindly loyal to any idea their crooked party presents.

Like when a woman makes a proposal at a meeting, is ignored; then later a man makes the identical proposal to high acclaim. I bet these guys have climbed on and ridden on the backs of women all their lives.

DACA indeed. Ain't that some kill-two-birds-with-one-stone bullshit.

Wait haven't the Democrats fallen for that one before. Hell no. Vote on funding the government and then have a vote on funding the wall with no amendments allowed just an up or down vote.

We need about 20 Republicans in the Senate to open government and the Republicans to allow the vote of course. I think we can find enough Republicans in the house.
