Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand gauges Wall Street executives' interest in backing a potential 20
Source: CNBC
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, is reaching out to Wall Street executives to gauge potential support if she were to run for president in 2020, CNBC has learned.
Gillibrand has personally been working the phones and calling senior executives at Wall Street firms in recent weeks to see whether they would back her campaign if she jumps into the race, according to two senior business leaders who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Donors in the financial community helped back Gillibrand's successful re-election bid last year. Her effort to connect with business leaders this time comes as she contemplates entering what will likely be an expensive and protracted Democratic primary.
Gillibrand has gotten a mixed response from the executives, however. Some have enthusiastically kept the door open to helping her finance her possible 2020 operation while others are hesitant to return her calls.

(4,341 posts)The fact that she kept her sit doesn't mean we have all forgotten your ill-jump-the-gun to help republicans getting rid of Al Franken, did she forget she did that?
What does she think makes her a good candidate for POTUS, anyway?

(102,276 posts)Instead of offering any kind of explanation, mea culpa, or discussion, she lashes out at the donors, all but accusing THEM of not caring about women or "me-too".
Disgusting, delusional, and given no evidence of any emerging "growth or understanding", beyond unqualified for higher office, IMO.

(6,810 posts)I wonder why we don't hear about how Franken is a sex-obsessed pussy-grabber anymore. I wonder if there even ever *was* an investigation after he expressed his willingness to resign from office and cooperate with one. I wonder if Gillibrand has the capacity for shame. I wonder who told her letting this news get out so early in the cycle was a good idea.

(14,173 posts)There's another reason she wants to get rid of popular competitors like Franken, those that are confrontational to big power.
There's a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party. Warren represents the long overdue shift to the grass roots, the people, the 99%. And those that still cling to the failed Third Way 1% catering decade where we lost a record amount of seats across the country.

(273 posts)Saw her on National tv last year and had to be corrected live by her senatorial aid on a vote that she thought all democratic Senators voted against. Plus she is now telling Americans she has her hands out to the wall street elites. Not very smart. Be grateful that you have the powerful position that you do.

(19,201 posts)Sucking up to Wall Street denizens right out of the gate makes me want to vomit. The way she railroaded Al Franken is the final nail in her political coffin as far as I'm concerned. If selected to represent the Democratic party I'd vote for her, but I'll steadfastly refuse to lift a finger for her election campagn.
I sincerely doubt she stands much of a chance, though.
