Congressional Black Caucus Calls For GOP to Act Against White Nationalist Congressman Steve King

Source: Newsweek

By Tom Porter On 1/13/19 at 5:49 AM

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has called for Iowa congressman Steve King to be removed from committees after he defended white supremacism in an interview.

In a statement Saturday, CBC chairwoman Representative Karen Bass, a California Democrat, called on Republicans to act and remove King.

“Like Donald Trump,” she said, “Steve King has sought again and again to give comfort to white supremacists, something that should never be allowed in the halls of Congress or the Oval Office.

"If Republicans really believe these racist statements have no place in our government, then their party must offer more than shallow temporary statements of condemnation," said Bass. "Instead, they must actually condemn Mr. King by removing him from his committee assignments so that he can no longer affect policies that impact the very people he has made it clear he disdains."...............

I would appreciated any insight that people have, most especially Black citizens, how they can support a party that has a history of aligning itself with outright racists who are determined to deny them basic rights. The situation has virtually flipped from the party that supported abolition to a party that has embraced the worse elements of racism that extends to any non-white. I am addressing the situation as it exists today. I realize that it has a complicated history, but the lines are clearly drawn today.

They far outnumber the teabagger caucus.

After all, there aren’t nearly as many of them as there are in our caucuses! You know our “new and improved” democratic system: minority rule.
