Trump rejects Graham's call to reopen government

Source: The Hill

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 01/14/19 10:01 AM EST

President Trump on Monday said he is standing by his demand for border-wall funding, dismissing calls from one of his top Republican allies to temporarily reopen the government.

Asked by reporters about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) suggestion that Trump sign a stopgap spending bill to buy more time for talks, Trump responded, “I did reject it.”

“I’m not interested. I want to get it solved. I don’t want to just delay it. I want to get it solved,” he said.

The president also hit Democrats for traveling to Puerto Rico for an event while he has been at the White House.

A blink is capitulation to trump and he will crash and burn before doing so,

The end of the "crisis" occurs when GOP decides enough is enough and work with democrats to reopen the govt.

won;t happen until then and we are weeks/months away from that

6. Well, he has blinked before, but the stakes are so high now that he won't blink.

McConnell will have to go against Trump. And you're right, that could take weeks, or months.

Trump doesn't have to sign anything. He can just let the bill become law in 10 days without his signature. He can tell himself and his remaining supporters that he never caved. They'll both believe it.

Regardless, the cracks in the Senate are widening as more and more Americans are affected.

5. The Congressional GOP* has it well within their purview to end this shutdown...

1. The Senate needs to bring to an IMMEDIATE VOTE all of the bills to reopen government that the House has passed;
2. The bills need to go to the Orange Anus* for signature or veto;
3. If the Orange Anus* does nothing, the bills become law in 10 days; and finally
4. If the Orange Anus* vetoes the bills, Congress has the power --AND THE VOTES-- to override his veto.

This is a Rethuglican* shutdown and could be remedied by Rethuglicans*, who instead want to try and blame the Democrats for their n nefarious deeds.
