Trump shares article blasting federal workers, calling for long shutdown

President Trump on Monday shared an op-ed from a writer claiming to be an anonymous senior member of his administration who harshly criticizes federal workers as disloyal to the White House and worthy of losing their jobs.
The writer of the op-ed, published by a conservative news site, argues the partial government shutdown is an opportunity for Trump to greatly reduce the size of government. On an average day, roughly 15 percent of the employees around me are exceptional patriots serving their country. I wish I could give competitive salaries to them and no one else, the op-ed reads. But 80 percent feel no pressure to produce results. If they dont feel like doing what they are told, they dont.
Later in the op-ed, the author states that the first of the shutdown should be to win better security particularly at the southern border. Uniformed border officials should be paid, but non-essential employees should be let go, the author writes.
"Furloughed employees should find other work, never return and not be paid," the op-ed states.

(633 posts)Trump is a horrible, horrible person. Probably the "anonymous" article was dictated by Trump(to someone who cleaned up the spelling and the grammar). Who other than Trump would write about workers "disloyal" to the White House? Trump began with dismantling the State Department to wreck U.S. influence around the world and now he's going to destroy the whole country. Can't impeach and indict this guy fast enough.

I thought IQ45 hated stuff written by anonymous sources.
Using the shutdown to purge government of all personnel who aren't Trump loyalists was predictable. The next step will be to have employees sign a loyalty oath before they are allowed to returned to work.
These people, from Trump down, are evil. They only care about what Putin wants them to do, which is destroy the United States.

(16,375 posts)Neither Miller nor Trump nor anyone else around there has the slightest idea of the jobs that the vast majority of federal workers do. Nor do they care.
They are going to take us all with them.

So if you are a dedicated scientist with the EPA, or an educated Economist with the Treasury, or a career diplomat with the Department of State, if you do not do as you are told and provide support to misleading or downright false assessments demanded by your boss, you should be fired and replaced by sychophants.

(5,803 posts)this is right out of their playbook.
They know the Federal hiring process is under duress so once they can induce Federal workers to quit, re-hiring to fill those spots will be made impossible.

(7,220 posts)I guess on the up-side, Americans are finally finding out why taking a wrecking ball to our government is actually bad thing. A lot of people are going to suffer, and our economy is probably going to tank. There's going to be a lot of pain before the US hits critical mass and people wake the fuck up and turn on him.
Hopefully we won't get attacked. Last time we had someone this stupid and arrogant in the WH that's exactly what happened. For all we know this time, the US president won't just be incompetent but an active participant. If we were attacked he could declare Marshall Law or whatever the fuck he wants and we'd be doomed because stupid people + panic = war and loss of personal freedom.
You know, like Trump has always wanted.
