Senate GOP blocks bill to reopen Homeland Security

Source: The Hill

Senate Republicans blocked legislation on Friday that would have temporarily reopened the Department of Homeland Security.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) asked to take up a House-passed bill that would fund the department through Feb. 8. It's the third time Democrats have tried to bring up the stopgap measure.

But Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) objected to the request "on behalf of the majority leader," referring to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

It's the third time McConnell has blocked the bill to temporarily reopen DHS, which is at the center of the shutdown fight. He's also blocked a bill that would reopen the rest of impacted department and agencies three times, most recently on Thursday.

the country or the people. They are an arm of the Trump Cult out to destroy the US and do Putin's bidding. Damn, I wonder how many Americans are still unable to grasp what is going on with the GOP and the Trump Cult.

I just had a friend, never cussed and I seldom do called Trump a mean, SOB!

This is what these so and so’s are doing to our Country.

Trump went on Fox last night and threatened protesters. Said they need to quit calling names and protesting his plans. A thinly vieled threat.

Why wasn't he on the floor?

Did Lankford do this without permission from Mitch?

Perhaps Mitch was not present because he was simply going to let Kaine's legislation go through without objection.

Is Mitch traveling? Is he on a military plane? Did he go with Lindsey? or Was he in the bathroom?

I am sure McConnell has someone in the chamber at all times with the duty of objecting when the Ds try to do this now.

He thinks that at some point Mitch will just let it go the floor without objection.

Perhaps that was supposed to be the morning. Also, Lankford is enough of an ass to do it without permission.

I am sure Lankford is an ass.

But, we are still not near the point where McConnell is going to cave on this.

The way these lunatics thing, allowing this to play out this way will be a big blow to 45's standing. It is going to have to get a lot uglier, before McConnell will let it happen.
