Women's March: 30 countries set to take part in third global protest
Source: Guardian
Women in more than 30 countries around the world are expected to gather on Saturday as part of the global Womens March, to protest against violence against women and the impact of policies of austerity.
Saturday marks the third anniversary of the first Womens March in 2017, when as many as 6 million people around the world gathered in protest at the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States. Last year thousands gathered in central London for the Times Up rally, in honour of the campaign against sexual harassment and honouring the #MeToo movement.

(1,107 posts)Has had a march each year. My dear wife and I will be there once again. We'll catch some flack from the ignorant but will get a lot of honks and thumbs up from a surprising number of people.
All that matters is showing up.

(14,593 posts)Somehow we're going to have to address the fact that we all owe SO MUCH to bankers. Because, you know, if our national debt is money we owe to ourselves, then why ARE we paying it back to bankers with interest? Or investors in the case of US T-bills?
The international banks have WAY too much power over the people, which is one of the biggest reasons we have such wealth inequality.
-When you allow bankers to take a 'cut' from every public dollar spent, and to earn interest through the creation of money,
-When you allow CEOs of publicly held companies to act to increase shareholder profits without regard to the welfare of workers, consumers and the world itself,
-And finally, when you allow corporate money to buy politicians so they can get things like 2017's giant Republican tax cut for corporations and billionaire donors,
you end up needing to FIGHT for social and economic justice.
Like these women are.
