Trump Defends Plan to End Shutdown Even as Pence Appears to Hedge

Source: MSN

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Sunday defended his proposal to end the partial government shutdown, using his Twitter account to attack Speaker Nancy Pelosi for turning down the offer, even as Vice President Mike Pence appeared to open the door to negotiations over the plan.

In an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Mr. Pence said Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, planned to bring the president’s proposal to the Senate floor for a vote on Tuesday, adding that Mr. Trump had “set the table for a deal.”

But when Chris Wallace, the program’s host, asked Mr. Pence if the president’s proposal was a final offer, Mr. Pence hedged, saying, “There’s a legislative process that is going to begin on Tuesday in the United States Senate” — a possible acknowledgment that the proposal might be amended on the Senate floor.

“Does that mean that you’re willing to negotiate from what the president said, or is that the final offer?” Mr. Wallace asked again. Mr. Pence replied, “Well, of course. The legislative process is a negotiation.” But on Twitter, Mr. Trump seemed to be holding fast as he took aim at Ms. Pelosi and pushed back against conservative critics who have described the plan as amnesty for undocumented immigrants.

Trump is all over the map, yet the media is now pushing a false equivalency once again that Democrats need to negotiate even though they have, but the reason why we are in a shutdown is because the White House reneged back in December because Rush and Ann Coulter said mean things about Trump.

Causing millions to be hurt , and will cause his and the gop's spiral downward, and they know it. They're desperate now, and as Mueller closes in on them their desperation will only increase, but it too will fail for them. They've learned nothing from the Mid Terms, and 2020 will make them look like really , really stupid people, again. Putin is behind this with trump and the gop , and they will all be exposed for being treasonous against our country soon.

Negotiation should be done behind closed doors, not on social media or Sunday talk shows.

The worse trump and the gop will be severely damaged and lose the Senate and the Presidency next election. They only thought the Mid Term results were a disaster for them.

Spending bills originate in the House so they have even that backwards. Regular order is nowhere to be found. And doesn't it take 60 votes in the Senate?

The Democrats, on the other hand, have passed 2 bills in the House that together would reopen the government but McConnell won't bring it for a vote in the Senate. That was done under regular order in the House and is the way it is designed to happen. So why is the Senate wasting time on a bill that has no chance of becoming law. It makes no sense.

you see if the sexual predators plan has a chance, which it will not, and then you have the plan you and your senate did a vote on and passed by a voice vote, and the House sent your bill back to you to vote on, and you haven't, so what exactly are you doing.............

Do you realize asshole(s) that pilots have to get physicals every six months to fly a plane and that physical has to be sent to FAA in Oklahoma, and if there are issues with that Physical they are grounded unless the FAA gives them a wavier.............so if you two assholes and your enablers on the media, the house, senate and your cabinet don't think that this is Not going to be a problem, I don't know about you but PILOTS will not fly if they are not suppose to..................because if they do and are caught they lose their job and you two are not worth losing a job................. ever..................
