Trump-Kim February Summit Expected to Take Place in Vietnam
Source: Bloomberg
Administration officials are planning for President Donald Trumps second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to take place in Vietnam, said people familiar with the plans.
The White House announced on Friday that Trump would meet Kim in late February, following a 90-minute meeting between the president and Kim Yong Chol, one of the North Korean leaders top aides. The pair discussed denuclearization and a second summit, the White House said. Kim Yong Chol also met Friday with Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
Trump and Kim held their first meeting in Singapore in June.
The February summit is likely to take place in Hanoi, the capital, but Danang, site of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, and Ho Chi Minh City in the countrys south have also been discussed as possible venues.

(11,885 posts)Claiming they've made tremendous progress. Its another bold face lie, they haven't , and Kim is going unchecked producing more bombs he now can use since trump allowed him to finish testing his delivery system. trumps lying again , and about our national security issues. Kim can now deliver a nuclear missile anywhere in the USA, and trump claims he's making progress, which is nothing but propaganda, not facts.

(3,299 posts)Here's a statement concerning the posture of the US in the negotiations with North Korea he published in an article in Foreign Policy magazine earlier this month-
To begin, the administration should drop its maximalist demands that seek quick denuclearization and only promise sanctions relief when the last nuclear weapon has left North Korea. This plan stands almost no chance of being accepted by Pyongyang, and gives China, South Korea, and others the impression that the United States isnt seriously interested in finding a solution. Thats bad for pressure, as the United States will be blamed if and when diplomacy fails. Instead, Washington should prioritize developing a roadmap with Pyongyang that lays out a step-by-step approach that provides rewards along the way commensurate with North Korean actions
