MOSCOW (Reuters) - A model from Belarus who claimed to have evidence of Russian interference in U.S. President Donald Trumps election was freed from Russian police custody on Tuesday, but remains a suspect in an unrelated criminal case, the TASS news agency reported.
Anastasia Vashukevich and three others were detained upon arrival at Moscows Sheremetyevo airport on Thursday after being deported from Thailand.
Russian authorities have said they suspect her of forcing women into prostitution, a charge that carries a jail sentence of up to three years.
Vashukevich, who is also known as Nastya Rybka, has previously said she was in possession of recordings of conversations on interference in the U.S. election through an association with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. Deripaskas representatives have accused her of fabrication and said she was never his mistress.

(1,588 posts)why would the Russians be releasing her? Could Putin perhaps be trying to put a little scare into Donny Boy to hurry up and do something for him? Could Donny Boy be compromised and need a little prodding to produce?
Sanity Claws
(21,847 posts)she no longer does.
The Russians took them from her or they learned where they were kept and made sure they had them before releasing her.

(14,624 posts)I'm starting to wonder if this was another Putin ploy to set up the US intelligence community and American journalists to make them look like fools, chasing after info that would be damaging to Deripaska. It doesn't seem to have worked.
I really doubt that the mobster Putin gives a shit about women being forced into prostitution.
not fooled
(5,801 posts)probably have leverage of some sort (family members?) and made it clear to her that if she doesn't shut up, more besides herself are in danger.
Also, she probably turned over all tapes, photos etc. depicting donnie's campaign staff (probably) meeting with deripaska and others.
