Air travel union leaders release dire safety warning as shutdown continues

Source: The Hill

Air travel union leaders on Wednesday released a dire warning about the government shutdown’s affect on air travel.

In a joint statement, the heads of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, the Air Line Pilots Association and the Association of Flight Attendants wrote of their “growing concern for the safety and security of our members, our airlines, and the traveling public.”

“In our risk averse industry, we cannot even calculate the level of risk currently at play, nor predict the point at which the entire system will break,” they wrote. “It is unprecedented.”

The statement comes on the 33rd day of the partial government shutdown, which has lasted longer than any others in U.S. history.

This is terrifying. People will continue to fly if the can. Is there a legal avenue to shut down air travel? Nothing good can come of this if the shutdown continues.

agree not to work on or take a plane out and fly and go on a "National Strike", because it is deemed to dangerous....................and just maybe Moscow Mitch and the orange hair one will realize that he can't even take that big old 747 out for his joy ride to defraud the public down to Florida.................if the ATC system is shut down, he could call up the national guard like Ronnie Reagan did, but this time its different, not much, but it is more different......................and the public is starting to grumble.............

I for one would support that move, since I am a formally federally registered Mechanic that had to sign off log books to state that the plane is safe to fly...................and to continue for service and that public and the crew or safe to fly...................

Most people do not realize that when I use to sign off that log book, and if something where to happen and if "I" was found at fault I could be charged with up to murder .........................

This situation is about the same.......................there is a willful neglect being implemented by the jerk (s) in the white house (traitor) and Moscow Mitch (also known as turtle), that is endangering peoples lives and if someone or some plane incident to occur and people die, I fully believe that they should be charged with the murder if people where to die............there is no excuse for what they are doing.....................none.

The FAA inspectors when I worked flight line wanted to know if we were following the regulations and the manufacturers books to operate and maintain that aircraft........................end of story

prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency and given to U.S. President George W. Bush on Monday, August 6, 2001.

Consider this joint statement your briefing on the matter, Mr. President. Ball is in your court.

We are flying out in exactly 25 hrs and I am not the best flyer anyway. I always wonder if it will be my last act on earth (to fly).

My god, please reopen the government so I can have some peace of mine while I must fly. (We cannot postpone this trip again).
