ST. LOUIS (AP) A male St. Louis police officer was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a female officer during what was described as a deadly game with a revolver.
Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner announced the charge against Nathaniel Hendren, 29, in the death of 24-year-old Katlyn Alix, as they allegedly played a game in which a revolver's cylinder was emptied, one bullet put back and the two colleagues took turns pointing at each other and pulling the trigger.
Alix was with two male officers at an apartment when she was killed just before 1 a.m. Thursday . A probable cause statement from police, provided by Gardner's office, offered a chilling account of the dangerous game that led to her death.
The probable cause statement said Alix and Hendren were playing with guns when Hendren produced a revolver.

(7,725 posts)You know? It's hard to imagine that police personal unaccountability is so pervasive that we are asked to believe that three trained law enforcement officers, were playing a game where they load a gun and aim it at each other, and pull the trigger. What does this say for accountablity of the folks making deadly force decisions everyday? If it was as described, how could 3 police officers be so sad, angry, depressed, high that nobody at the police dept. intervened to rescue them? Friends don't let friends destroy their lives.
This doesn't pass the smell test.
It's a hard job, but, a big part of why it's hard is because it requires honesty and integrity as a human being. Self-control being a bedrock requirement. Police Officers get paid pretty good money, unionized, and most still have pensions and healthcare. Sad to see these types of stories. I wonder if drugs taken from an arrest had anything to do with the madness that happened right then? Wtf is going on here?

(767 posts)So "trained" people are "playing" with a weapon. One person is "shot" in the chest just like these people are "trained" to do when they want to "kill" a person. This story is a story with ZERO truth. Those two cops should be in prison for murder. A simple gun power test would provide who shot who? I do not think this was done since they were all in DAMAGE CONTROL mode. DAMN POLICE CRIMINALS.............

Are we to believe that the cops made a game of taking shots AT EACH OTHER with a bullet in the chamber -- and while two of them were at the home of one of them when they were still on duty?

(146,317 posts)In that game, one or the other participant will die. It's a suicidal game. There was a reason they were playing such a deadly game. We may never know what that reason was, but it's bound to have been a sad, dismal story.
