Tom Steyer's impeachment campaign is going local

Source: Axios

Tom Steyer announced Tuesday he's launching "Operation Accountability," a grassroots campaign putting some of his 7.1 million impeachment supporters on the ground in districts represented by Democratic Reps. Richard Neal of Massachusetts, Jerrold Nadler of New York, and Elijah Cummings of Maryland.

Why it matters: Steyer decided he doesn't need to run for president to try to bring about political change. He's investing $40 million to impeach President Trump, some of which will go toward this campaign. The 3 House members were selected because of their leadership on crucial committees, "giving them the power to investigate the president and begin the process towards impeachment," his campaign wrote in a statement.

It won't stop there: The campaign will expand to at least another 10 congressional districts represented by Democrats. The goal of the campaign is to encourage House Democrats to start immediately impeachment proceedings.

"Operation Accountability" will include a full media campaign spanning digital, TV and direct mail; dedicated paid staff in each district; coordinated outreach to his Need to Impeach grassroots supporters; various town hall events; and continued public opinion polling.

The only this WORSE than Steyer wasting money on promoting Impeachment before there's hard evidence and a path to Conviction, is TARGETING DEMOCRATS who don't buy into his plan...

Democrats from Blue States and Puerto Rico to low population Red States... and also to swing/purple states, like Florida, where a little higher concentration of Dems is needed to take it Blue.

They could provide financial incentives for people to stay five years or so... and then while the states are Blue, pass an amendment to abolish the electoral college and add Puerto Rico and Washington, DC as states! We need to do something about Senate representation, too, since it's absurd that CA and WY (for example) have the same number of Senators... but this will do for a start! (Also, some of the relocated have to be ethnic restaurant owners; the food was a major reason I returned to CA from VT!)

entice some to move to their states. Population losses and such are hurting them in terms of getting workers, etc. so it's hurting their own economic development.

As to more representation, we have it in the House but I do think it's lagging behind the actual populations (the representation is) so we probably should have more reps in the House than what the populations are calling for.

As to the Senate, two per state when states are so lopsided in population (and democrats have these states too) needs to be fine tuned, since it does seem to allow the capture of the Senate using low population states to pack the Senate w/ gop flunkies. There were proposals to split the state of CA into 3 states, but I don't know if this flew anywhere. This doesn't seem to be a viable solution either since it didn't go anywhere. For that matter, every state seems to have a segment of the state/population that wants to split from the rest of that state...
