Trump: People saying 'this is something very special what's happening' on race in US

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 02/03/19 08:29 AM EST

President Trump in an interview broadcast Sunday ducked questions about his handling of race relations in the country, pointing instead to economic gains for minority groups.

"Face the Nation" anchor Margaret Brennan cited a recent CBS poll that found 63 percent of respondents disapprove of Trump's handling of race relations.

"What has happened is very interesting," Trump said. "The economy is so good right now." He lauded the decreasing unemployment numbers for Hispanics, African Americans and women, statistics the president often cites when describing his relationship with minority groups.

"So I think I've been given a lot of credit for that," Trump said. "And in terms of race, a lot of people are saying well this is something very special what's happening."

They don't follow up with a question that will make him clarify what he says.

Trump is good at these interviews though. He is quick to deflect when asked to clarify something and he uses bully tactics to try and shut journalists down - "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me!" Then he just fills in with a bunch of incoherent nonsense. Journalists have to get one step ahead of him and not give him an inch.

it will be the almost Elvis-like "thank you, Thank you....Thank you very much..." treatment, as he turns to leave, interview over.

He doesn't get pinned down because he has nothing, nothing at all, nothing except to escape the question. I'd like to think his supporters are getting on to that little device, but I don't know. He a weakling because he's never had to physically and mentally work or anticipate consequences. When he does have to face the music, he's always had his "fixers" at his side, always at the ready, always cleaning up his nasty little messes.

One day, hopefully soon, he's going to be sat down and required to answer some questions. Maybe we'll even get to see how that turns out.

Prior to the White House, Trump was a big fish in a small pond, one where he had a lot of control and all the advantages. That did not translate well to the national and international stage. People like Stone, Cohen, or Giuliani are useless in the world of diplomacy and foreign affairs. His fixers' talents are lying, cheating, and intimidation. They don't really know anything, which sucks as Trump knows even less.

After I wrote that about the "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me", I saw a clip of him from a morning show and sure enough, he pulled that on the interviewer from CBS. He fills space with crap so no one can really get a word in.

Someone should remind him, he's not in Trump Tower anymore.

Translation: "Deplorable people with a racial axe to grind are finally getting the attention they don't deserve for their grievances by a president willing to legitimize racism in the process for PR and election victories".

There, I fixed it. I feel special.

a nursing home and ask any random 98 year old patient suffering from dementia the same question. The answer would likely be more coherent. Trump is just a babbling idiot.

Two years after Obama left office, Trump is taking credit for things a true President put in motion, while also saving this country from the worst depression in 50 years.
