Trump's former lawyer Cohen gets two-month delay to report to prison
Source: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trumps former personal lawyer Michael Cohen will now report to federal prison on May 6 after a judge granted him a two-month delay to allow him to recover from a surgical procedure, according to a court filing on Wednesday.
Cohens lawyers asked for a 60-day extension in a letter to U.S. District Court Judge William Pauley to allow Cohen to undergo intensive post-surgical physical therapy and to prepare for testimony before three congressional committees.
Mr. Cohen underwent serious shoulder surgery and this extra time allows Mr. Cohen to continue his physical therapy, Cohens legal team said in an emailed statement.
In addition, he will be able to prepare for the expected testimony next week before Congressional Committees, which he welcomes.

(4,637 posts)to be one of the folks who are allowed to "wrap up their personal affairs" and whatnot before doing their time. No one I know has ever been granted such understanding and empathy from the courts. But, they weren't rich.
Your Mom's in the ICU, dying? We don't care. You have kids and need to make arrangements? Well, it sucks to be you.

(9,468 posts)before 3 committees" than anything else. The republicans have been trying to run out the clock on his testimony, and the clock just got a 2 month extension. ha ha.
I do realize that the wealthy have way too many privileges and excerptions when it comes to incarceration. Not just that of course, but it's a joke what they get away with regarding the penal system. In this case I'm willing to make an exception because I'm pretty well convinced this is for the benefit of regular Americans.
