CNN Assures DNC: Ex-Sessions Aide Sarah Isgur Won't Work on Democratic Debates
Source: The Daily Beast
The Democratic National Committee has sought and received assurances from CNN that the networks new politics editor, Sarah Isgur, will not be involved in the debates that the channel hosts and moderates for the Democratic primary.
The assurances were provided after the committee expressed reservations to CNN over Isgurs history in Republican politics and after officials at the committee raised concerns over her alleged connections to a now-retracted Fox News story on the debunked Seth Rich conspiracy theory.
CNN announced this week that it had hired Isgur to help oversee the networks coverage of the 2020 election. Until late last year, she had served as Jeff Sessions top spokesperson at the Department of Justice after previously working on campaigns for Carly Fiorina and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Her hiring set off a round of recriminations from journalists, who argued that the longtime Republican operative had no prior experience in the news industry, and from Democrats, who believe she brings a clearly established ideological agenda with her to her new post.

They want them, so they don;'t get me.
it's either or.
Rachel Maddow has the best ratings on cable news now and I'm part of that group so they're alienating the winning audience for them with moves like this.

(32,034 posts)Whether he was NBC's entertainment president or CNN's president, Zucker has a lot to gain personally with Trump in power whether as a reality TV star or sadly as President of the United States.

(34,404 posts)You'd think her not having a journalism degree would have disqualified her in itself.
And yet, CNN chose to pass up any number of qualified candidates and scrape the bottom of the barrel instead.
It's either rank incompetence on their part or nepotism - and they should be ashamed of either one.

(32,034 posts)Think about this: As NBC entertainment president, CNN's president Jeff Zucker made Trump a reality TV star by getting The Apprentice on his network.

(323 posts)WHY FUCKING HIRE HER AS A POLITICAL EDITOR IF SHE ISN'T GOING TO WORK ON POLITICAL ASSIGNMENTS LIKE THIS?!? This is the dumbest move CNN has made since they gave Corey Lewendowski a platform to spread hate and disinformation.

(7,480 posts)That's far more powerful than being involved with just the debates. Surely, they can't be daft enough to think this "concession" by CNN will make a difference! Have they forgotten about the media's hit job on Hillary in 2016?

(3,635 posts)except he was in front of the camera, and everyone could make up their minds on what he had to say. He was also much more qualified to do anything than this lady, who will simply guide coverage behind the scenes to benefit the man (Trump) she took a loyalty oath to.
the RW simply runs circles around Dems, why we always lose these close elections.

(2,574 posts)Isgur is a longtime enemy of women's rights with an easily accessed history of forced birther fervor. Never a journalist only an operative/ propagandist for the most misogynist, racist RW stooges from Cruz, Sessions to Trump.
Until this RW shill is replaced, I suggest that the DNC and our candidates also refuse airtime to CNN. They need us more than we need them, especially if CNN election coverage is going to be controlled by a professional RW political propagandist.
