Trump Covers for Kim Jong Un on Otto Warmbier's Death: 'I Really Don't Believe He Knew About It'

Source: Mediaite

by Colby Hall | Feb 28th, 2019, 6:35 am

President Donald Trump says he doesn’t believe North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un knew about what happened to American student Otto Warmbier during a press conference that occurred in Hanoi very early Thursday morning EST.

“Those prisons are rough, and bad things happen, but I really don’t believe [Kim Jong Un] knew about it.”

Warmbier is an American student who was imprisoned in North Korea after he was charged with stealing one of the communist regime’s propaganda posters and was released after being detained in North Korea for approximately 17 months. Almost immediately after arriving back in the United States, Warmbier passed away as it was announced he had been in a coma for almost a year.

Trump clarified on Kim’s role, saying “I don’t believe he would have allowed that,” and “he felt very badly about it.” Echoing words he said of Russian President Vladimir Putin about Russia’s role in interfering in the 2016 election, Trump added: “he tells me that he didn’t know about it and I will take him at his word”.

As I earlier said Kim will come well prepared after his consultation with his Chinese allies. He provided Kim with international recognition and nothing more. Kim was after two thinks. The end of the War Declaration and the removal of U.S. troops from the peninsula. He never intended to give Trump anything in return except a worthless assurance that he would consider denuclearize and missile development. Our nation was represented by a ridiculous charlatan and a pompous slob Secretary of State. The same racist bastard who said that Obama was a Moslem and communist.

One can somewhat understand their appreciation for their son being brought home during Trump's time, but THEN he was rightfully blaming NK's little dictator.

Now?

They're giving their boy cover IF what I read was true, saying that they have NO comment on Fatso's comments of declaring his love for No Ko Fatboy..

I won't go as far as my friend did in calling Warmbier's parents hypocrites, but let's just say that I don't have a ANY sympathy for them, I'm just & , especially given how they went in on Pres. Obama and his administration saying that they didn't do much for thier son. Yet, they allowed themselves to be used as props during one of fatso's SOTU rambles.

Morning Joe just did a segment showing Warmbier pleading and crying in some "courtroom" in NK a few years back before they destroyed him.....saying please think of my family etc...it was hard to watch. Then they show the orange buffoon saying he believes Un didn't know anything about it and prisons are rough. Made me sick.

I would think that letting experienced diplomats do some groundwork early on would make more sense, but I can understand that Trump and Bernie favor a direct mountain top to mountain top diplomatic style.

Donald Trump is not trying to cover for Kim Jong Un. He likely really believes what Kim is saying because Kim seems to say nice thing about him. This is just more evidence that people who claim Trump is easily fooled on both the national and international level. All one has to do is flatter him and he believes what they are saying.

Santorum: Trump's decision to side with Kim on Otto Warmbier was 'reprehensible'

By Devan Cole
Updated 1518 GMT (2318 HKT) February 28, 2019

Washington (CNN) — President Donald Trump's decision not to hold North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un responsible for Otto Warmbier's death was "reprehensible," former Republican Sen. Rick Santorum said Thursday.

"This is the conundrum of Donald Trump for many of us who like his policies and don't like a lot of the things he does and says," Santorum said of the decision to CNN's John Berman on "New Day."

"But, this is reprehensible, what he just did. He gave cover, as you said, to a leader who knew very well what was going on with Otto Warmbier," Santorum, who is a CNN political commentator, said. "And again, I don't understand why the President does this. I am disappointed, to say the least, that he did it."

Earlier Thursday, Trump, who was in Hanoi for a summit with Kim, said the North Korean leader "felt badly about it. He felt very badly," telling reporters the two discussed the matter privately. "He tells me that he didn't know about it and I will take him at his word."

THIS is beyond my comprehension.

Yo Spanky McMushroomdick -- is there ANY dictator/tyrant/thug you WON'T embrace or defend against this country ?

I know you know fuck all about history, but there was a time when North Korea seized an American NAVY ship in international waters, held the crew for 11 months - during which time the men were beaten, drugged, starved or fed maggot-infested and rotted food and denied even basic POW fundamental medical care. The ship was the USS Pueblo. The year was 1968. Back about the time you and your bone spurs were dodging the draft.

They still refer to the UN action there in the 1950s as "The Fatherland Liberation War." Days before the Pueblo was seized, 20 of Kim Il-Sung's elite forces set about to kill the South Korean president, Park Chung Hee, in what is known as the Blue House Raid. It was their plan to murder the family and staff in front of him, then decapitate the man and take his head back to NK. They had also planned to then go to the US Ambassador's home and kill everyone there. Fortunately, the men were captured, they confessed and were put to death.

Kim Il Sung declared that the US was their eternal enemy and should be destroyed at all costs. The North Koreans have never softened their stance toward the US.

You are not just a disgrace to this country, you are a back-stabbing betrayer of everything this country stands for.
