President Donald Trump criticized Democrats after the House passed an anti-hate resolution on Thursday, accusing them of becoming an anti-Jewish party. The resolution, that originally condemned anti-Semitism, was drawn up in response to comments and tweets from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
I thought yesterdays vote by the house was disgraceful because it has become, the Democrats have become an anti-Israel party. I thought that vote was a disgrace. If you get an honest answer from politicians, they thought it was a disgrace. The Democrats have become an anti-Israel party and anti-Jewish party, Trump said.
After voting for the resolution, Omar released a statement with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MN) and Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN).
Today is historic on many fronts. Its the first time we have voted on a resolution condemning Anti-Muslim bigotry in our nations history. Anti-Muslim crimes have increased 99% from 2014-2016 and are still on the rise, they said. We are tremendously proud to be part of a body that has put forth a condemnation of all forms of bigotry including anti-Semitism, racism, and white supremacy.

Juan Williams Cites Polls to Reject Trumps Claim Dems are Anti-Jewish: Not in Touch With Reality
by Ken Meyer | Mar 8th, 2019, 11:04 am 4
Fox News Juan Williams pushed back on Donald Trump Friday after the president said Democrats have become an anti-Jewish Party.
As Trump spoke to reporters before heading to Alabama, he swung at Democrats after the House passed an anti-hate resolution that expanded on its original condemnation of anti-Semitism. The resolution was sparked by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and her controversial comments about Israel, and Trump slammed her party, arguing Democrats have become an anti-Israel party and anti-Jewish party.
Williams reacted to Trumps comments on Fox News show Americas Newsroom, and he pushed back by noting that Trump only received support from about 6 percent of the Jewish-American population in 2016.
This is, as you just heard from Donald Trump, an effort to make it out that there is only one party that supports Israel in the United States and thats the Republican Party, said Williams. This is a huge distortion. Its not in touch with reality.
Williams continued by noting that Bernie Sanders (who is Jewish), recently defended Omar by saying theres a difference between anti-Semitism and critiquing Israels foreign policy.

(45 posts)Tiny Fingers McShitforBrains desperately needs to get his poll/approval ratings into the high 40's. Primary season is upon us, the Dem field is an interesting and eclectic group. tRump will have difficulty dealing with the onslaught of House investigations, Mueller, SDNY, NYAG and perhaps any other state that might wish to join in the affray, to spend time dealing with Dem primaries and the evolution of his opponent.....Should make for some great TV!!!!

(1,414 posts)it was for her to choose to publish that letter condemning Rep Omar and pushing for that resolution. I'm in the camp that Rep Omar said nothing and did nothing wrong. I'm not here to argue with those who think otherwise. However, Speaker Pelosi should have handled it differently instead of giving that orange, mongoloid squatter in the White House and his band of loyal nazis in the congress ammo to beat us over the head with. The GOP can claim they are pro-Israel all they want, but nazis are anti-Semites and republicans are nazis.

(16,794 posts)Following the Joseph Goebbels playbook of accusing your opponents of the very same thing you are doing.
Trump hasn't even bothered to look into the makeup of the Congressional Democratic caucus. Speaking up against the polices of the Israeli Government in relation to the treatment of the Palestinians and their right to territory, is not being anti-Jewish.

(7,403 posts)Here the story states as fact that Omar made "controversial comments about Israel". Later Bernie Sanders correctly points out "theres a difference between anti-Semitism and critiquing Israels foreign policy". The media needs to stop framing everything to support what Trump is saying - in this case that Omar made controversial comment about Israel. There is also nothing said about the overheated, false charge of anti-Semitism leveled by the New York Congressman (Eilot something).
