In overwhelmingly bipartisan vote, House calls for Mueller report to be made public

Source: The Washington Post

By Karoun Demirjian March 14 at 10:33 AM

The House voted overwhelmingly and in bipartisan fashion to urge the Justice Department to publicly release the entirety of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report into Russian interference in the 2016 election, once completed.

The move is an attempt to “send a clear signal both to the American people and the Department of Justice” that lawmakers expect to see the full account of Mueller’s work, according to the House Judiciary Committee’s chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.).

The final vote count was 420 in favor, with no one voting no. Four lawmakers voted “present.”

But the resolution by itself cannot force attorney general William P. Barr to publish more of the report than he intends to — and that is why even some of the Republicans supporting it complained that the measure was a waste of time.

in the same sentence.

They don't have one. Weren't born with one and can't grow one.

They can bloviate about almost anything, however. Just ask them to submit some factuals for a change.

Trying to find a way to deter this from happening in the Senate now for self protection , and protection for trump. Mitch knows its backfiring badly for himself , trump, and other republicans involved in all this corruption going on. He also realizes his and others close to him will be exposed , and be soon in serious legal jeopardy from it all.

IMO the GOP would vote to release the report under 3 conditions:

1) they believe it won’t touch Trump. OR

2) they believe Trump is unlikely to win in 2020 and are trying to protect themselves.

3) they figure it is going to get out anyway and don’t want to take a chance on being on the wrong side if it’s bad news for Trump

One thing for sure: the GOP couldn’t care less about transparency

It has no teeth. They are not voting to release the report (they have no ability to release a report they don't have). They are voting to "urge the justice department" to release it, knowing full well, in the end, it's the justice department's decision, and the justice department (Barr) doesn't care what congress "urges" it to do. They might as well be voting to urge Trump to release his tax returns. Trump would just laugh.

that all but 4 Rs voted for the resolution considering how much they've covered for Trump since he was elected. Just yesterday Chris Stewart, a GOP member of the House Intel Cmte, was on MSNBC disputing Nadler's characterization of Whitaker's closed door testimony.

It also puts them on record as being for release if/when Barr decides not to release anything and when Schiff and/or Nadler supoena Mueller to appear and describe his investigation.

Here's the key sentence: the resolution by itself cannot force attorney general William P. Barr to publish more of the report than he intends to

I've lost all hope that there ever will be one. Or those supposed sealed indictments will be unsealed and criminal charges will be brought against Donald Trump or any of his children.

against all the perps may be more damning than a mandated report.

Some suggest that there is a DoJ/AG report that is required as part of the OSC. This would go to Barr (current AG - for now) and may/not be disseminated. There may be some other types of "info" releases. And, of course, there is the heavy evidence of charges brought and guilty pleas obtained that should be the underpinning.

And the pigs will continue to squeal. Most have lost their value to the dump/kuchner/putin mobsters and want some form of protection.
