Trump job approval slips 4 points in Gallup poll

Source: The Hill

By Brett Samuels - 03/14/19 08:25 AM EDT

President Trump’s approval rating dipped by 4 percentage points to start March, according to a new poll, dropping below 40 percent.

The Gallup poll released Thursday showed Trump with a 39 percent approval rating, down from 43 percent in the second half of February. Trump closed the month with an unsuccessful summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and saw his former personal attorney Michael Cohen deliver explosive testimony before House lawmakers. March also opened with a less-than-stellar jobs report.

Trump's approval rating is buoyed in large part by Republicans, 90 percent of whom gave him positive marks in the Gallup poll. Thirty-three percent of independents approve of Trump, as do just 4 percent of Democrats, according to the poll.

The poll surveyed 1,039 people from March 1 to 10 and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

I think it has to be the dominance of RW media. And their disinformation campaign for the last couple of decades. Some of these voters are truly deplorable racists, but many actually believe the Dems will abolish the 2nd amendment, will force abortions on young women, force people to turn gay, open the borders completely to all gangs, and much more. They are truly afraid of Democrats attaining power from everything they hear.

some fishing with my husband, told me separately that they don’t like to watch the news. This was even though I had courteously tuned the TV to Fox to pick up the evening news.

These aren’t the first times I’ve heard this from Republicans. (We live in Georgia.). It doesn’t mean they won’t vote Republican in 2020, but it’s obvious they haven’t liked what they’ve been hearing for some time, even though I’m guessing they only watched Fox News before they started avoiding it.

Remember at the beginning of 'Gone With the Wind' how jubilant the southerners were to go to war, then cut to post burning of Atlanta when their sentiment had been shaken. No more yips and hollers. Those people never really learn, but the quiet gets nice. Waiting for the quieting again when their hate no longer wins elections nationally.

It was very accommodating of you to put Fox on for your guests. That's how you show others that decency out shines everything else.

of how the big, angry surge in anti-immigration, anti-alcohol, anti-science, anti-secularism conservatism in the 1920s, the Scopes monkey trial era, seemed to have disgraced and burned itself out. That one followed giving women the right to vote just as this follows election of a black president, attempt to elect a woman, and big advances in gender rights.

So as you say, we're hoping and waiting "for the quieting again" and wonder if we might be seeing signs in our friends. These guys are both very conservative, but not the crazy, hostile sort or they couldn't be friends with us.

those so-called "Democrats" are NOT Democrats. They lied to the pollster.

Which is about the number of truly crazy people we have in this country. 28% of them are so hard core they won't be reached in this lifetime.
