Graham says he'll probe Rosenstein's 25th Amendment remarks
Source: The Hill
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Friday that the Senate Judiciary Committee would investigate Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein remarks about an alleged proposal to use the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office.
Graham, who chairs the Senate panel, sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr saying the committee plans to probe the allegations and offered a two-week deadline for Barr to hand over documents relating to Rosenstein's discussions with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe about the alleged plan.
The Committee is deeply concerned with these discussions and whether they essentially indicate that two of the highest ranking law enforcement officials in the United States were discussing what amounts to a coup against the President. Accordingly, the Committee plans to conduct oversight into these discussions and related matters, Graham wrote.

I've seen similar uber patriots show up an veteran events with their bikes calling themselves the "Patriot Guard," like we needed them to protect us. They even thought they were entitled to special parking privileges because they were waving flags. In reality, they're caricatures who want to feel like tough guys.

(5,270 posts)Rosenstein was supposed to be gone by now, but guess that was another of his sneaky tactics to protect Mueller while hanging on as long as possible making Trump think he was leaving soon. I doubt Rosenstein is too concerned over Graham's deep concerns when they both know Putin's puppet Trump is batshit crazy and crooked.

(52,267 posts)There is no legal basis for a probe. So what if there was a conversation about the 25th amendment. It's perfectly legal to talk about it. It's perfectly legal to talk about impeachment, too. It's perfectly legal to talk about investigating and indicting and prosecuting the president also.
It's a completely idiotic fabrication to then say that this means there's some bias. That's like saying "hey! That cop pulled me over then started talking about speeding! Bias!"

He had broadened his persona. Now he is back to being a nasty tool.

(22,144 posts)keeps yapping about HRC and that she needs to be investigated (again? for the 17th time?). He keeps yapping about Rosenstein's 25th amendment remarks (whereas the Congress and members of it should have already said / discussed this as part of their job, which they have failed miserably at).
What I like to see investigated is how Congress passed a tax cut and jobs bill that pretty well gave over 80% of the benefits to the top 1%ers, and preached that Americans in general will reap about $4000 in benefits from this bill. The vast majority of us haven't seen squat (pay increases or anything else for that matter, and prices still keep going up, despite the nice tax cut businesses got).
This is fraud and should be investigated for out and out criminal conduct

A "coup"
fuck off
the 25th requires the cabinet to declare an incapacity. Not Rosenstein. He can ask the question about whether it should be used but it is no more a "coup" than any post on DU talking about it. Rosenstein can discuss it, demand it, stomp his feet and hold his breath until he turns blue, but he CANNOT use the 25th on his own, and the cabinet using it is not a "coup" since the Constitution grants them the authority to do so.
So go ahead lindsey, have public hearings on this, and let yourself by humiliated by Rosenstain having to explain the Constitution to you.

(17,863 posts)Rosenstein would make a referral to the AG or if he feels that the AG is compromised or unable to make a rational decision, then to the VP.
We would expect any individual close to the President to act in that fashion if the behavior warrants it.
I personally don't think it applies in this case, but that doesn't change the fact that a reasonable person could conclude that it should at least be discussed. Plenty of constitutional checks to prevent its abuse.
