Chicago police release Jussie Smollett case files

CHICAGO The Chicago Police Department has released its police reports in the Jussie Smollett case in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from WGN.
CPD provided WGN with two reports. Both reports have redactions.
Smollett had been charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct after Chicago police say he staged a racial and homophobic attack in the city in January. Those charges will be now be wiped from Smolletts record.

(7,530 posts)His crimes weren't violent or endangering to innocent bystanders, so I understand a bit of leniency.
He's probably already ruined his own career except on reality TV.
I mean, are there not a couple of politicians who are (trying to get?) re-elected despite felony convictions?

(25,923 posts)This is rather remarkable--the police received an FOIA request and immediately responded by turning over the requested information. This is "man-bites-dog" territory here!
