Iowa Sen. Grassley: President Trump's wind turbine comments were 'idiotic'

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP

DES MOINES (AP) — An Iowa Republican senator expressed irritation Wednesday at what he called “idiotic” comments by President Donald Trump about wind energy.

Trump, at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual spring dinner Tuesday night, said noise from wind turbines causes cancer.

Sen. Chuck Grassley told reporters that the comments “were first of all idiotic and it doesn’t show much respect for Chuck Grassley as the grandfather of the wind energy tax credit.”

Grassley was instrumental in approving a federal tax credit 26 years ago that has spurred wind energy development.

They are not loud. The closest comparison is waves lapping on a shore line, quite soothing.

I'd love to have one in my back yard. Here if you agree to have one on your property, you can tap into it for free.

Far more birds are killed by pet and feral cats than by wind turbines.

Trump is just fear mongering with a new topic.

And distracting from other, serious topics. He does that a lot.

Mother to 5 year old: Cookie jar seems a bit empty!
5 year old: Look! Is that a spider on your shoulder?

Got to hand it to Don - for a 5 year old, he has the act down really well!

I was quite surprised at the vast number of windmills I saw in Kansas as well as northwest Texas as I drove through recently. All the attacks on renewable energy are just bluster. The Republicans know renewables are expanding, they just pretend to hate it in order to rile up their ignorant base.

Rural Ohio, that is most of the state very few farms do not have wind turbines.

A new version of the old windmills that used to be on every homestead.
