White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees in sanctuary cities, targeting political foes
Source: Washington Post
White House officials have tried to pressure U.S. immigration authorities to release detainees onto the streets of sanctuary cities to retaliate against President Trumps political adversaries, according to Department of Homeland Security officials and email messages reviewed by The Washington Post.
Trump administration officials have proposed transporting detained immigrants to sanctuary cities at least twice in the past six months once in November, as a migrant caravan approached the U.S. southern border, and again in February, amid a standoff with Democrats over funding for Trumps border wall.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosis district in San Francisco was among those the White House wanted to target, according to DHS officials. The administration also considered releasing detainees in other Democratic strongholds. . .

(16,646 posts)These people frequently contribute significantly to the local ecnomies. So, go ahead. It could result in more communities declaring themselves as such to ensure they get the successful infusion.

And if we can re-unite families and get people out of these US Government concentration camps on our border, we have an obligation to try.

I seriously doubt the rest of Trumpers in Florida would lift a finger to send the other immigrants to Miami.
The real horror of the kids' "center" is laid out in real Cannabis calm's post:

(395 posts)The shear insanity of this is beyond anything I would think they are capable of. So the people that are claiming the illegals are all dangerous animals were ok with the optics of releasing said animals in America after having captured them in order to protect America from the aforementioned animals? I mean how many drugs would they have had to take to come up with how this would work out in their favor?

(35,701 posts)the services. Non profits in San Antonio have been overwhelmed in some cases and then get cited by the city for having too many people in a given space. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate attempt to punish people who disagree with Trump using law enforcement. That happens to be illegal, as well as unethical.

(28 posts)So you are just assuming they cant be productive members of society and will be a drain on social programs?
#1 that is very offensive to immigrants.
#2 you are making Trumps point for him! He is always saying illegal immigrants are a drain on Americas social services. You are essentially agreeing with him.
Yours is the wrong attitude to take towards this threat. Trump wins if we arent willing to accept them with open arms.
