White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees in sanctuary cities, targeting political foes

Source: Washington Post

White House officials have tried to pressure U.S. immigration authorities to release detainees onto the streets of “sanctuary cities” to retaliate against President Trump’s political adversaries, according to Department of Homeland Security officials and email messages reviewed by The Washington Post.

Trump administration officials have proposed transporting detained immigrants to sanctuary cities at least twice in the past six months — once in November, as a migrant caravan approached the U.S. southern border, and again in February, amid a standoff with Democrats over funding for Trump’s border wall.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco was among those the White House wanted to target, according to DHS officials. The administration also considered releasing detainees in other Democratic strongholds. . .

These people frequently contribute significantly to the local ecnomies. So, go ahead. It could result in more communities declaring themselves as such to ensure they get the successful infusion.

These folks are not the horrible, terrible people Trumpsky keeps telling us they are. When they start contributing to their new homes, the whole world will see what a load of crap Donny has been spinning.

And if we can re-unite families and get people out of these US Government concentration camps on our border, we have an obligation to try.

When living in Philadelphia, I recall the mayor wanting and encouraging immigrants to come there. The mayors of these cities would have embraced the chance to show how welcoming their community was.

The migrant children detention camp is outside the so-called sanctuary city of Miami.

I seriously doubt the rest of Trumpers in Florida would lift a finger to send the other immigrants to Miami.

The real horror of the kids' "center" is laid out in real Cannabis calm's post:

Trump doesn't distinguish among any of the groups. Drug cartel = illegal immigrants crossing border = asylum seekers. They're all the same to him.

The shear insanity of this is beyond anything I would think they are capable of. So the people that are claiming the illegals are all dangerous animals were ok with the optics of releasing said animals in America after having captured them in order to protect America from the aforementioned animals? I mean how many drugs would they have had to take to come up with how this would work out in their favor?

We have to increase/maintain the population somehow and migrants are the most inexpensive choice. There are a ton of babyboomers aging and retiring. My town has a high number of refugees and they are hard working ambitious people.

Any reasonable person, any American with sense still willing to call this man "President" disgraces themselves and cheapens the title thoroughly. trump is no American president! Republicans are little more than an occupying force at this point. We can no longer be the "loyal opposition" as the other party is not true to America.

the services. Non profits in San Antonio have been overwhelmed in some cases and then get cited by the city for having too many people in a given space. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate attempt to punish people who disagree with Trump using law enforcement. That happens to be illegal, as well as unethical.

So you are just assuming they can’t be productive members of society and will be a drain on social programs?

#1 that is very offensive to immigrants.

#2 you are making Trumps point for him! He is always saying illegal immigrants are a drain on America’s social services. You are essentially agreeing with him.

Yours is the wrong attitude to take towards this threat. Trump wins if we aren’t willing to accept them with open arms.

Dispersing them throughout the country will reduce the burden of states and immigration assistance agencies at the border.

The mayors are saying the asylum seekers are welcome because they know these aren't criminals but future hard working productive members of society
