House Democrats are crying foul over a plan by the Intelligence Committee's top Republican, Rep. Devin Nunes, to meet privately with Attorney General William Barr to push the Justice Department to pursue criminal charges against officials involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia.
Nunes accusations of misconduct are aimed at a slew of former FBI and Justice Department officials, who he alleges committed crimes in their pursuit of allegations that President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign conspired with Russians to influence the election.
Nunes has in recent days foreshadowed plans to send eight "criminal referrals" informal requests for the Justice Department to investigate directly to Barr. He said on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Thursday night that he intends to meet with Barr "when appropriate" to discuss the referrals, and plans to bring fellow GOP intelligence committee member John Ratcliffe, a former U.S. attorney, to the meeting. Nunes said he wouldn't name the targeted officials publicly but would share his recommendations with Barr.
Barr told lawmakers earlier this week that he was anticipating Nunes' information.
"I havent seen the referrals yet from Congressman Nunes," Barr said during testimony to the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, "but obviously if theres a predicate for an investigation itll be conducted............................

I am not aware of one FBI head that was from the Democratic Party. Comey tried to sink Clinton twice and still acts oblivious to the damage he did and the gross double standard that he applied between her and dump. Me thinks its their Boy Scout act should be canned.
They only cheat, lie and gas light. 2 years in power and the tax scam, assault rifles for the mentally challenged and 2 Supremes from the Federalists Society is what we got. Along with continuous efforts to destroy our institutions.
Fuck Devil Nunes!

When kkkrove did this to Don Siegelman and wasn't stopped, when chimpy fired the AGs who wouldn't look for phony voter fraud, and there were no consequences, the pukes were emboldened to go farther. And they are.
Just one of many ways this is not the USA anymore.

(6,011 posts)This is the tactic the right wing is taking to fight that report.
Throwing accusations around. All the secrecy. Barr's ridiculous 4 page "summary". Trump crowing about being "exonerated".
It's going to be a big obstruction circus.
These things come to mind.
1) I really doubt that the GOP is going to stick it's neck out too far just to protect Trump alone.
I believe that there are several big names involved, both in and out of government.
2) If this report really "exonerates" anyone of wrongdoing, especially Trump, we would have seen it by now.
