Nadler says he will call McGahn
Source: Politico
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler on Sunday said his panel would call former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify.
We have to hear from other people like Don McGahn, who were going to call, the New York Democrat said on NBCs Meet the Press.
McGahns testimony in the recently released Mueller report has been at the heart of the controversy over possible obstruction of justice by President Donald Trump. In his testimony, McGahn spoke of being ordered by the president to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.
Addressing that testimony, Nadler said Attorney General William Barr deceived the American people about presidential misconduct.

and all his allies. It will come out sooner or later. This is a good start.

In fact, he may strongly need to tell his side to keep his law firm afloat and in the good graces of other clinets.
Why?
He's been impugned by one of the worst lawyers to ever represent any president. He must refute at all times any idea that he lied to Mueller, misrepresented what Trump told him and any idea that he acted illegally.

(5,586 posts)McGahn provided legal advice to the white house. While he wasn't the President's personal lawyer, he still has significant privilege commitments to the Executive Branch, and the vast majority of what Nadler will want to know will be covered by a privilege claim.
I wouldn't hold my breath that McGahn will provide any smoking guns, or anything else of note.

(15,286 posts)need to hear from the witnesses, not (just) Barr or Mueller. Someone else pointed out that Fox News will cover these hearings so their viewers will get the first hand accounts whether they want to or not.
Nadler would also be smart to dump the 5 minute alternating questions and go to 15 minute segments where questioning is lead by the committee counsel, not the members.

Getting McGahn's testimony on record will be the foundation of an obstruction case.
