Barr's testimony to House on Mueller in doubt amid dispute

Source: Associated Press

By MARY CLARE JALONICK an hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has informed the House Judiciary Committee that Attorney General William Barr may not attend a Thursday hearing to review special counsel Robert Mueller’s report due to objections over the panel’s questioning format. That’s according to a senior Democratic committee aide.

The department has balked at the panel’s plans to allow committee counsels from both sides to question Barr after the traditional round of questioning by members. Justice officials also told the committee they opposed the panel’s plan to go into closed session if members want to discuss redacted portions of Mueller’s report. That’s also according to the aide, who requested anonymity to discuss the confidential communications with the Justice Department.

Barr is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and the House panel Thursday.

He isn't above the rule of law any more than trump is, and once he's allowed to ignore the rule of law , he cannot in any way be an acting AG , and should be impeached. The same should apply to any President, even an illegitimate one like trump is. Barr may have an awaking soon if this continues, and I already think he's going to regret many of his actions, and end up in prison. Just a matter of time for Barr and trump before they are held fully accountable.

Fuck em, we need the real Mueller report, not the Barr report. I sure hope Mueller will tell the truth when he testifies. If he repeats Barr's no collusion lie, IMHO no impeachment.

I must say I'm getting worried.

that's the only major difference, the only unique advantage they have - the ability to repeat lies all day long to 50 mil a week with no direct challenge or correction.

the reason trump played golf with and paraded limbaugh the day after the mueller report was to send a message to any republicans thinking about cooperating with democrats

trump and his cloud of orange assholes feel that buzz - 2 years of unchallenged limbaugh/russian bullshit about obama clinton soros leading a 'deep state' coup, and until the left and dems stop ignoring talk radio they're always going to feel enabled to do anything they want.

when americans start protest and boycott rw radio into the true demand for the lies and hate - a few hundred stations in the swamps - fox will fall apart, republican pols will drop trump, dems will win 'every' election, and the GOP will have to rebuild

Nadler should unveil the Budget-omatic: a tote board that counts down in $50k intervals.

Every time Barr lies, deflects, stonewalls, prevericates, filibusters, or in any other manner fails to provide a satisfactory answer, the buzzer goes off and Barr's Department loses another chunk of cash from next year's budget.

(Even better if they can take it away from Barr personally)

DoJ has probably already submitted its proposed FY20, 21, 22 year budgets. The Judiciary committee could just have a big board and start zeroing out line items each time Barr lies, disembles or tries to run out the 5 minute clock.

He may think he can handle politicians who haven't practiced law recently, but a professional will phrase the questions so it becomes clear he's lying. Plus the "no-one gets to discuss the redacted stuff" thing, by demanding it's all in open session..

A Congressional subpoena loses standing when member's term is up. Then a new subpoena needs to be created.

Their hope is to foil this committee, stymie any old or new Dems coming in for the next Congress because of the time this re-creation will take, but most of all--they hope to replace with Repugs and shut this down altogether.

Do I have this right?

The trouble we're in is serious as hell.

If subpoenaed, he is obligated to appear and speak to the American people. Throw his ass in jail too if need be. This is Trump's doing.

Don't like the kind of questions being asked? We do not like being lied to, Barr!
