Street clashes erupt as Venezuela's Guaido urges uprising

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) Anti-government demonstrators clashed with troops loyal to Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro at an air base in the capital hours after opposition leader Juan Guaidó took to the streets in a bold and risky attempt to lead a military uprising against the embattled socialist.
The early-morning rebellion seems to have only limited military support.
But it was by far the most-serious challenge yet to Maduro's rule since Guaidó, with the backing of the U.S. and dozens of other countries, declared himself the country's interim president in January in rejection of a government he accused of stealing last year's presidential election.
The dramatic events began early Tuesday when Guaidó, flanked by a few dozen national guardsmen and some armored crowd control vehicles, released a three-minute video filmed near a Caracas air base in which he called on civilians and others in the armed forces to join a final push to topple Maduro.

There was live video a few minutes ago of street protesters and government vehicles. Then they showed one or two regime armored vehicles run over demonstrators

(3,744 posts)But the US has been trying to overthrow Venezuela's government (read OIL) since Chavez. They tried a bullshit coup with him and now they're trying the same thing with Maduro. I'm pretty sure Bolton was behind the last attempt and bet he's behind this one. I don't know what's going on down there since the US probably isn't getting the straight story but Guaido seems to be way to pro-US to be an accident. Did the majority vote for him? We'll never know.

(4,341 posts)The kleptocracy has already done a lot of damage, they regime has a lot of blood on their hands. Has nothing to do with Bolton and the orange buffoon, this is something that GW Bush should have taken care of when he acted as president, but he was too stupid to understand the consequences. Obama also failed to do something about it, he was too worried trying to rebuild the country, but the damage, not only in Venezuela but many other countries in the hemisphere are monumental, those cucarachas have to be taken out and put in jail.
Again, I don't like the orange buffoon or Bolton, but it has nothing to do with them, and I fear that Putin has put a strain on the buffoon from getting into Venezuela, Russia is now in there, the situation is very bad and it will get worst for the World if the regime is not ousted.

Or better yet, take a vacation, just go for a week and if you come back alive tell us all how misguided we are about Maduro, the "Colectivos" (nice people on motorcycles funded by the government carrying all kinds of weapons, robbing, killing people at any time of the day, unaccountable for their crimes), and to see more you should try to walk the streets of Caracas after 06:00pm, I am sure you will be greeted by many people with weapons trying to borrow everything you have.
I know I am being sarcastic, but that is the real picture. Why do I know? Because I have family and friends who live there. My Mom, 90 years old, was robbed at noon in front of a City Hall, cars and people going by. A woman grabbed her from behind, asked her to not shout and she would not be hurt, a guy walked in front of her and took her purse, with all the papers she had gone to City Hall to update, a 90 year old, and if she had said anything they would have killed her right there, in front of everyone, that is what the Chavez and Maduro regime have done in Venezuela.
You want the "straight" story? Then don't wait for anyone to tell it to you, find out, it is very easy to do so. youtube has many videos.
To answer your question "Who is Maduro killing exactly?" Students, watch the video and you will see, the industries, the people, they are having to eat from the garbage, of course Maduro doesn't physically do it, he has the "Colectivos" and the Cubans to do it for him. Although on April 11, 2001 when there was a coup to oust Chavez, you can see videos of Maduro, when he was a bus driver shooting at people in a march from a bridge. He is a murderer, and he was born in Colombia, he is not from Venezuela, his family still lives in Colombia.

Im old enough to remember those who defended the Soviet Union and Eastern Europeans Socialist nations. They are still around.

No wonder Bolton and Pompeo like him - another chicken hawk like them. I hear one of the coup plotters already snuck into the Chilean Embassy in a dress.

(4,341 posts)A chicken hawk? I would love to know what some people read...Not sure if you are interested in hearing why the Chilean embassy, but I wil tell you anyway. The reason why they went to the embassy is because there seem to be negotiations going on for Maduro to leave the country, it seems most of the military has moved their allegiance to the new President, Juan Guaido. I do hope my sources are correct.

update 5: As predicted, what Guaido dubbed Operation Liberty a full on coup attempt for which he appealed for Venezuela's military to rise up against Maduro appears to have failed to achieve significant momentum, given Caracas officials are taking to the air waves to declare the "mediocre" coup attempt successfully put down.
A mediocre coup d'etat attempt has failed, said defense minister Vladimir Padrino on a state radio broadcast Tuesday afternoon, following prior statements saying he was ready put down the rebellion by force. And in a television appearance Padrino further called the day's events "ridiculous"...
