Trump administration set to deport 1 million targeted undocumented immigrants

Source: New York Daily News

With no immigration reform from Congress, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is set to deport one million undocumented immigrants who’ve been denied asylum or are considered dangerous.

President Trump had set a two-week deadline for Congress to come up with asylum reforms on June 22. Now, ICE is “ready to just perform their mission, which is to go and find, detain and then deport the approximately one million people who have final removal orders,” acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Ken Cuccinelli said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“They’ve been all the way through the due process and have final removal orders,” he said of the targeted migrants.

Cuccinelli said the deportation halt had clogged the immigration system, and was contributing to massive numbers of migrants being detained at border facilities.

the deportees, OR the vehicles they're being transported in, across their border???
What is it gonna be, a bunch of Greyhound busses, with gun turrets attached, blazing their way out of National City, California, and into Tijuana?
And then what? Mexican customs would deny the busses the opportunity to exit Mexico, confiscate them, and all major Mexican cities would have new transit systems set up in a few months?
And of course, all of the bus drivers will be brave 'Murican patriots who don't mind spending the rest of their lives inside a Mexican prison...

it took time. But this actually makes sense to me as the law is the law and the folks have gone through deportation proceedings and are marked for removal due to illegally residing in the country. Every developed country does that, e.g. Canada is very strong on this with very fast removal. We are far less efficient.

about 18 months ago, the wait time for a merit hearing was over 5 years. There doesn't seem to be any way to process these backlogs quickly and comply with due process requirements at the same time.

Unless Trump intends to completely shred both Article 1 and the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution, there is no way in Hell that he can divert the funds, infrastructure and humanpower to round up a million people. And he has already tried and failed to do this on a small scale.

Either Trump has made a complete break from reality or he's tossing the most obvious kind of red meat to his base.

if they've committed a crime, such as DUI, or ANYTHING violent or involving a weapon, or using someone else's SSN, then boot them.

If I were living somewhere else, either in an undocumented state or as a refugee, damned right I'd obey EVERY law.

I've had two friends who have had their lives fucked up because their social security numbers were taken, quite frankly zero mercy or sympathy for that.

Immigration is one thing; our system is racist and fucked up.

Using someone's identity and screwing up their life is another. Anyone doing it, regardless of reason and circumstance should be held accountable. Just like driving under the influence or physically harming another person in other than self defense- there's no justification, no excuse, and anyone doing it is a fucking criminal.

When you are in the country illegally and need to earn a living, it’s probably extremely difficult to do without some violations. Although, most of it is probably on those who employ them. The smartest way to combat illegal immigration is to enforce laws against those who hire them which should apply to both companies and individuals. If nobody can hire them, you’ll see congress pass comprehensive immigration reform rather quickly as the need for unskilled labor would become evident and worker visas would be granted to those who are here illegally.

As you correctly note, there would be major fines for employing ANYONE of undocumented status. $10K a day per violation would get the attention of greedy contractors, lax megastores and individual homeowners.

No need to do *anything* to the undocumented person at all.

sure, some would just function on cash, and a few slick ones could work around it by fraud.

But there is a solution, however almost nobody of either party wants to actually implement it.

It's a fucking crime, no matter the reason, justification, or circumstances. Lines on a map have nothing to do with the fact is screws up an innocent person's life. As with DUI, or animal abuse, anyone doing it should do time and/or be kicked the fuck out of here.

Just like some asshole driving without insurance who causes an injury accident, I don't give a fuck about the reason, I don't care about their immigration status, where they came from, the color of their skin, or their circumstances. Some shit is just wrong to do and the people who do it should be punished, no ifs, ands or buts.

Trump is lying!

He doesn't have any additional pot-O-gold to pay for his white pride events. Without money who is going to pay for his photo ups?

The money to put together investigations, searches, arrests, transport, house, feed and court costs for a million people isn't in the cookie jar.

Maybe he can pull off a couple of high profile media events and haul in a few terrified families with crying kids so he can act like a tough guy, but not millions. He lied.
