Army Lets Slip That It's Conducting Secret Operation Around D.C.
Source: Bloomberg
The Pentagon has revealed a few details about a secret Army mission that has Black Hawk helicopters flying missions over the Washington, D.C., area backed by active-duty and reserve soldiers.
The mysterious classified operation was disclosed when the Army asked Congress for approval to shift funds to provide an extra $1.55 million for aircraft maintenance, air crews and travel in support of an emerging classified flight mission.
Its part of a $2.5 billion request this month to reprogram funds in the current fiscal years budget to programs considered high priorities. Without additional funding, the Army will not be able to perform this classified mission, the Defense Department said.
Soldiers from assault helicopter company and aviation maintenance units will be supporting the mission with 10 UH-60s and maintenance capabilities for four months, according to the document, referring to the Black Hawks. The money will also pay for a specialized Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility at Davison Army Airfield at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, just outside Washington.

Davison Army Airfield is located approximately 11.0 nms. southwest of Washington, DC at Fort Belvoir, Virginia on the DCA 227 degree radial, and serves as HQ Operational Support Airlift Command (OSAC). In addition to regular United States Army based and transient aircraft movements, regular flights into DAA are operated by the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force, and the United States Coast Guard. Many civilian flights also operate in and out of Davison on an ad hoc basis.
{snip the frequencies}
In northern Virginia, we regularly get Coast Guard HH-65 helicopters, the yellow and blue Washington Hospital Center helicopter, Virginia State Police, Park Police, and the rare MV-22, if that counts as a helicopter. So anything other than one of those....

(18,640 posts)Either by impeachment or election, I'm sure Trump would feel better knowing that martial law could prevent him from being physically removed from the White House. The military could lock down the Capital and shield him from troublesome activists (both civilian and government) while he installs a new legislature.
I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but nothing surprises me anymore.

China will be able to place armed forces at a Cambodian naval base under a secret pact between the two nations, the Wall Street Journal said on Sunday, although Cambodian officials denied such a deal had been struck.
The agreement, reached this spring but not made public, gives China exclusive access to part of Cambodia's Ream Naval Base on the Gulf of Thailand, the Journal said, citing U.S. and allied officials familiar with the matter.
Such an arrangement would boost China's ability to assert contested territorial claims and economic interests in the South China Sea, challenging U.S. allies in Southeast Asia.
Chinese and Cambodian officials denied such a pact existed, the Journal said.

(1,730 posts)from Wikipedia:
"The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1956 and 1981.
The act specifically applies only to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force. Although the act does not explicitly mention the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy has prescribed regulations that are generally construed to give the act force with respect to those services as well. The act does not prevent the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The United States Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act either, primarily because although the Coast Guard is an armed service, it also has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission."

didn't W Bush/Cheney et al try to repeal the Posse Comitatus Act during their administration and possibly were successful for a short period??????????
With these clowns, the DOJ and Supreme Court, they could shove thru a repeal in a minute.........
Then again, do you remember the evacuation of Saigon from the top of the embassy.......Maybe the helicopters are rehearsing getting Trump and Repub Senators out to Air Force ONE which would fly them all to Russia......LOL
