Romney Camp Silent On Whether Bain Purchased Brutal Chinese Factory

Source: TPM

The Obama campaign is pouncing on a leaked fundraiser video in which Mitt Romney describes touring a factory in China as president of Bain Capital. According to Romney, the company packed workers into crowded dormitories behind barbed wire, while paying them a fraction of American wages.

Left unclear, however, is whether Romney ended up investing in the facility himself. While the video has circulated for weeks, and drawn renewed attention in recent days, the Romney campaign has yet to deny that the candidate bought the factory. It’s likely to get more attention now that more secretly filmed clips of a Romney fundraiser leaked to Mother Jones. The clips of Romney describing the Chinese factory appear to be from the same event in which Romney suggests all Obama supporters receive government handouts.

“You know, that video’s old, you can call Bain and ask them what they did in terms of investing on it,” senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie told reporters on Monday. “I don’t have any information on it.”

The Romney campaign told TPM Monday that Gillespie’s “no comment” would be its final word on whether Bain acquired the factory. A spokesman for Bain Capital did not immediately return a message left on his phone, but CNN reported a “source familiar with Bain’s investment history” said Bain did not purchase the factory.

...that Romney and Bain actually DID buy the plant - make them deny it!!

That's the way they play the game, let's play it the same way.

Provide sub-standard housing, keep workers under lock and key, and very low wages? Sure looks like it to me. Bring back 1900.

9. Audio Clip
Mon Sep 17, 2012, 09:44 PM
Sep 2012

There's an audio clip somewhere of Romney talking about how wonderful it is that the women can sleep in bunks right at the factories! This evokes 2 images:

A. When a woman told W she was working 3 jobs and the dufuss said, "That's fantastic, uniquely American."

B. The virtual female slaves laborers that work for American companies in the Mariana Islands thanks to Tom Delay's policies. (Don't forget the forced Abortions!)

Mitt Romney has no fucking clue as to how ANY OF US LIVE! I'm willing to bet $10.00 (Sorry Mitt, I don't make $ 10.000 bets) that Romney wouldn't know how to use a can opener if his life depended on t. He has literally lived in that much privilege his whole life.
How can ANYONE vote for this man?

(which was always bogus because he profited from it anyway)

So why did he visit a Chinese factory, looking to buy in?

12. This portion of the leaked video
Tue Sep 18, 2012, 09:46 AM
Sep 2012

is to me far more devastating to Romney than the "all those who vote Democratic are leeches" segment. Williard actually delights in the fact that the women sleep ten or twelve to a room, work incredibly long hours, and spend their lives surrounded by barbed wire and watch towers. He also tries to convince this "crowd" (looks to be about a dozen, maybe less, not including the servants) that the wire and towers are there, not to keep these poor women in, but to keep potential employees OUT--yes, Chinese women are that desperate for work, and isn't it all WONDERFUL!!???

It's a truly frightening bit of video, it literally made chills run down my spine. I know Nazi analogies are generally spurious, but I couldn't help thinking, as I listened and watched, that it was like the part of Albert Speer's autobiography where he talks about being given a tour of a slave labor camp. Speer at least (according to his own account, anyway) had enough of a conscience to be bothered by what he saw. Mitt thinks it's all so wonderful--gosh, you should just see their work ethic!

Here's the link: http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/09/15/hidden_video_shows_romney_at_a_fundraiser.html

And could it be Romney won't release his taxes because they'll show his income from this and other slave labor operations?

Please please please everybody, do what you can to get this portion to go absolutely viral!

Yeah, Mitt, the guards and fences are there to keep job-seekers out, not to keep the women in.

Righty right, Mitt.

It's unreal how dumb this guy is.

14. Why does it matter if Bain "bought" the factory

If they didn't buy that hellhole, then surely the Chinese government/party found another for them.

What this clip shows is how dumb Mitt is. He actually believed the story about the guards and the fence being there to keep job-seekers away, not to keep the women in.
