Mitt Romney wanted the full tape. Here it is.
—By David Corn | Tue Sep. 18, 2012 11:30 AM PDT

Romney's remarks, denigrating nearly half of the electorate, sent the Romney campaign—already roiled by infighting—into panic mode. The campaign hastily convened a late-night press conference to address his controversial statements, and Romney stood by his "off the cuff" comments, while conceding that they were "not elegantly stated." He claimed his comments where merely a "snippet" and not the "full response." That was not true; his comments were shown in full. He added, "I hope the person who has the video would put out the full material."

Romney is not the only one who has called for the release of the full 49-minute video. And we're more than happy to oblige. The complete video demonstrates that Romney was not snippetized and that he was captured raw and uncut. Here it is, in two parts:

NC allows it as long as 1 party knows the recording is taking place.

So if I want to record a phone call, I don't have to tell the other person, if I don't want to.

I don't know what the laws are in the state in question, but it is not the same everywhere.

when James found it and asked the person who put it on there was it ok to tell Motherjones. So it was already there but I guess not many people saw it until now. The anti-Muslin video was done in a residence home as well. Would freedom of speech apply to Mittens, I don't know, but he and his cronies got zillion of dollars.

...

And according to Florida Attorney Marc Nurik, that means whoever made the tape may well have committed a third degree felony under Florida law, which is theoretically punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

“It would be my initial opinion that if you’re in a private home, in a private gathering with no media present, you have the expectation that your communications are not going to be intercepted,” Nurik said. “Somebody secretly taping it without Romney’s consent would be in violation of Florida statute, in my opinion.”

...

However, another Florida attorney said Tuesday that Romney’s own comments after the tapes emerged could damage any legal case against the taper, whose identity is unknown. In a hastily arranged press conference Monday evening, Romney said that the message he delivered to the donors on the tape is essentially the same he delivers publicly. ... That, said Florida attorney Edward Birk, may be enough to inoculate the taper, based on previous Florida cases that hinged upon whether or not the communications recorded were essentially the same as the person would say anywhere. “If I’m a court, I’m going to go out on a limb and say, no, it’s not a violation because he would say that anywhere,” Birk said. “But it’s really on the fringe.”

...

Birk also pointed out that the homeowner, Mark Leder, might have a case – particularly if the taper was a member of the catering staff at the event. “I’d want to see if there was anything in the contract with the caterer,” Birk said. “I think the homeowner could have a civil action.”

Honestly, he says more here re Israel/Palestine than I've ever heard him before. I think it's because he doesn't anticipate a challenge. These are homies, and he can just roll on with their approval. Of course I disagree with him on what he says but he is saying it with some conviction.

Now that it's all out it'll be available for the RW to gin up approval. The Dems need to keep that train a-wrecking.

FOR the people. It's the GOP that refuses to regulate on behalf of the people but makes the government work for the people it is supposed to regulate. Check out around 5:20 of the second tape. I hope the Obama campaign listens closely to this entire tape. They can use it to take the GOP, not only Ropmney, down for a long while.

versions of what is said! Often the captions have not even the vaguest connection to the actual words.

(Sometimes, though, they are amusingly appropos--like when Jennifer Granholm's joke about how Mitt gives his cars the elevator and the people who make the cars the shaft, the closed captioning on the speech translated "shaft" to "shit"! I only found that out because I was shocked and asked a hearing friend to listen to tell me if in fact she had actually said "shit" in her DNC speech.)
