GOP Sen. Scott Brown denounces Romney comments

Source: the hill

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) came out in opposition to GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's controversial comments that were made public last night, an attempt to distance himself from a candidate that remains deeply unpopular in Massachusetts.

The candidate joins Republican candidate for Senate in Connecticut Linda McMahon in coming out against the statements, making them thus far the only two Republican candidates for Senate to denounce Romney's remarks on the "47 percent."

"That’s not the way I view the world. As someone who grew up in tough circumstances, I know that being on public assistance is not a spot that anyone wants to be in. Too many people today who want to work are being forced into public assistance for lack of jobs," he said in the email.

Brown said that the large volume of Americans receiving public assistance and the growth in the food stamp program are part of the reasons he's running for Senate, as Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren's policies would lead to hundreds of thousands of lost jobs.

"Brown said that the large volume of Americans receiving public assistance and the growth in the food stamp program are part of the reasons he's running for Senate"

No to mention, he voted against several job bills that would have helped and several security net programs that his own mom used when he was young. (I still don't get how his father was able to win as a Republican local official and not give enough money to support his child. So I guess Walsh was not the first deadbeat dad Republican.)

middle and working class, but against the banking excesses. Obama needs a dependable vote in senate all the time on a variety of issues. Don't forget Sen Brown is Wall Streets favorite senator and LIZ is their Nemesis, not a hard choice.

and although the moderator John Keller is pretty much in the tank for him, it's gonna come up, and he's gotta have the view most people in Mass. have about Romney.

New Mexico Governor Breaks With Romney Over 47 Percent Remark

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) — who Mitt Romney quoted in a speech on Monday — has joined a growing number of Republicans in backing away from the former Massachusetts governor’s claim that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government and won’t vote for Republicans anyway. Asked if she was offended by the remarks, “Martinez said New Mexico has many people who are living at the poverty level and their votes count just as much as anyone else.”
