New York files new motion to dismiss Trump's state tax return lawsuit
BY NAOMI JAGODA - 08/29/19 01:39 PM EDT
New York officials on Thursday filed a new motion to dismiss President Trump's legal challenge to the state's law that allows Congress to request his New York tax returns.
In the new document, the officials argue that Trump's amended complaint in the case doesn't change their position that the case shouldn't take place in Washington, D.C.
President Trump has spent his career hiding behind lawsuits, and this one is no different," New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) said in a statement. "The presidents latest complaint is irrelevant, unreasonable, and factually inaccurate, which is why we believe this case deserves to be dismissed or otherwise moved to a New York court."
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) last month signed a law, known as the TRUST Act, that would allow the chairmen of Congress's tax committees to request public officials' state tax returns from the commissioner of the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.

(4,111 posts)Does Neal really want to get to the bottom of Trump's illegalities, or like other democratic reps, does he just want to pretend he does by making a whole helluva lot of noise? Unfortunately, I think the answer is pretty obvious.

(464 posts)There is NO chance of that. It could only show further cause.
Sorry...on edit:
After I posted that, it appeared I was calling BS on you...which I did not intend. Only that if the stated reason was that it would hurt their chances of getting the federal returns, it is in truth the opposite: the evidence would begin to show in all their financial dealings that should indicate fraud on their federal returns.

(6,423 posts)Too many people have access, it should have happened already?
I would have put it on micro-SD cards (tiny) and mailed to at least 30 "random" folks by now?
That's how important it is?
