Schiff: Top intel official has refused to turn over 'urgent' whistleblower complaint
Source: Politico
The nation's top intelligence official has refused to comply with a House Intelligence Committee subpoena to provide the contents of a whistleblower complaint a government watchdog deemed "urgent" and credible, the panel's chairman, Adam Schiff, said late Tuesday. The California Democrat warned the agency might be acting to conceal high-level wrongdoing by President Donald Trump or his immediate advisers.
"The committee's position is clear the acting DNI [Director of National Intelligence] can either provide the complaint as required under the law, or he will be required to come before the committee to tell the public why he is not following the clear letter of the law, including whether the White House or the attorney general are directing him to do so," Schiff said.
"He has yet to provide the complaint in response to the committee's subpoena, so I expect him to appear on Thursday under subpoena if necessary, he added.
Schiff sounded an alarm last week after acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire intervened to block Congress from receiving the contents of the still-secret whistleblower complaint. Maguire, according to Schiff, diverted it to the Justice Department and told the committee he would refuse to share it because it involved someone outside the intelligence community and might involve matters of confidentiality and privilege.

(70,567 posts)... history. Trump was just kind of caught up in "it" and went along for the ride but now he is a captive
of "it" and despite his intellectual short comings he knows if "it" is exposed he is toast.
Russia and Putin have been playing the long game w/Trump for >20 years. Russia has been keeping
him afloat for years and even to the point they put their money behind "The Apprentice" in order to
sell to a certain % of Americans that he, Trump, was a successful businessman but in truth he was a
failure.

So far no one has been held to account, so why should they comply?

(2,002 posts)But at *some point*, someone is simply going to have to be patriot and go public with information regardless if its "classified" and let the chips fall where they may. Someone is going to have to leak classified information if it implicates Trump or Kushner in treasonous activity. If there is stuff out there that is so "urgent", then continuing to sit on it is unAmerican. I know, I know, "that's easy for you to say" is the argument as I'm not the one risking my freedom and future, but if its that urgent, its got to come out.

There are really serious implications for whoever this whistleblower is - they will face extreme, life altering consequences including prison along with the wrath of a vicious, vindictive #Traitor who will set his mob upon this person and their family forever

(14,176 posts)How about once actually issuing arrest warrants instead of ..."Oh my gosh! then please arrange the best time for you to come in and tell us why not?" And if you don't show up?..."Well, gosh, who knew?....we better get out our pen and paper to write another stern letter!".
Schiff, Nadler, they can sure talk a good game. Its the follow up that is sorely lacking.
