Romney: I care about the poor and middle class

Source: Businessweek

ATLANTA (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told donors Wednesday that he cares about the poor and middle class as he tried to stem criticism and address concern from within his own party over secretly-recorded comments that he doesn't need to worry about the half of the country that doesn't pay federal income taxes.

The White House accused Romney of desperately trying to change the subject from an unauthorized video as its political allies continued to drum up heat over the remarks. The video was a welcome change of subject for Democrats from the campaign's long-running debate over the lackluster economy during Obama's presidency.

Both sides were hoping to break out of their dead heat, with the video upending the debate in the campaign seven weeks to Election Day. In the recording made at a private fundraiser in May, Romney said nearly half of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes believe they are victims and entitled to a range of government support and that as a candidate, he doesn't feel a need to worry about them.

Romney tried to correct any impression that he isn't concerned with average Americans during an afternoon fundraiser in Atlanta attended by Gov. Nathan Deal and other state GOP leaders. "The question of this campaign is not who cares about the poor and the middle class," Romney said. "I do. He does. The question is who can help the poor and the middle class. I can. He can't."

Romney stood by his view of what the government's role should be in Americans' lives.

America "does not work by a government saying, become dependent on government, become dependent upon redistribution," Romney told 900 donors who paid as much as $50,000 to attend. "That will kill the American entrepreneurship that's lifted our economy over the years."

On the other hand we have a greedy bastard who laid off people for his own wealth and never did anything except for himself. Gee who do I think will help the poor and middle class.

who 'likes' Romney and only 1-2 out of all my friends and acquaintances who might conceivably vote for him. Even people who plan to vote for him are ashamed to admit it, because he's such a disgusting pig.

I don't think my experience is in any way unique:

Source: Pew Research Center

19 September 2012 With an eight-point lead over Mitt Romney among likely voters, Barack Obama holds a bigger September lead than the last three candidates who went on to win in November, including Obama four years ago. In elections since 1988, only Bill Clinton, in 1992 and 1996, entered the fall with a larger advantage.

Romney told 900 people @ $50,000 per plate that 47% of US citizens do not pay income taxes, and out of the 47%, the majority of them earn far less per year then this one guy payed for 1 plate of shitty food. And now he wants EVERYONE to believe that he's for the poor and middle class.... ok so here's the scenerio......the horses are running wild in the field and Mitt runs over and closes the barn doors.... Come on.....

During the 1960 campaign, Nixon gave a speech trying to refute the perception, well articulated by John F. Kennedy, that he and his party didn't care about the plight of the "little man", as they referred to middle class workers back in the day.
"I'm sick and tired of my opponent saying we don't care about the average working man,'' Nixon said. "We do care!"
If a candidate has to specifically say that he or she cares about something, it usually means the people have already smelled a rat and understand the truth.
Remember, Nixon also went out of his way to tell the country, "I am not a crook!"

It's THIS SIMPLE. If the vaunted Founders thought like you did, Congress would NOT have the power to raise taxes from the GENERAL POPULATION, and then use that money to build a ...WHATEVER... any where they damn well pleased. The Federal money used to pay for a thing in Upstate New York isn't ALL collected from Upstate New York. This concept is so simple that I can't bring myself to believe the ENTIRE Republican Party apparatus is too stupid to understand it, and it really does piss me off. If this is about the New Deal, then just cop to the fact that Rich People are greedy, self-centered fucks who don't think the poor deserve things like FOOD, (oh, wait you already did) and cop to it PUBLICLY (not that part, though). At least you would score some points for Honesty with the American People, rather than what you are trying to do NOW, which is to try and tell us all that what our eyes tell us is just illusory, and that you really DO care about people less well-off than yourself.
Motherfucker, if that were true in the SLIGHTEST, you wouldn't CARE about how much wealth gets "re-distributed", as long as you and yours had enough to live comfortably on. The BALLS these people have truly is stunning, at least I'll give them credit for that, I guess.
