Federal judge temporarily blocks Georgia abortion law
Source: Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked Georgias restrictive new abortion law from taking effect, following the lead of other judges who have blocked similar measures in other states.
The law signed in May by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp bans abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which can happen as early as six weeks into a pregnancy, before many women realize theyre expecting. It allows for limited exceptions.
It had been scheduled to become enforceable on Jan. 1.
Lawyers with the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights in June filed a constitutional challenge to the law on behalf of Georgia abortion providers and an advocacy group.

This is all such a stupid idea now that the abortion pill(s) can so easily be obtained. They are outlawing something they will never be able to control. Order what you need off the internet or visit India, England or Ireland. The abortion pill is very easy to obtain and is very safe.
