Trump threatens to sue Schiff and Pelosi

Source: the hill

By Justin Wise - 10/13/19 07:15 AM EDT

President Trump on Saturday night lambasted the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry, saying his administration would look into possibly suing Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) over the probe.

"We're going to take a look at it. We're going after these people. These are bad, bad people," Trump said while speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C.

"I actually told my lawyer, I said sue [Schiff] anyway. I said, even if we lose, the American public will understand," Trump said of Schiff, who is helping lead the House's impeachment inquiry.

"And sue Nancy Pelosi, or maybe we should just impeach them, because they’re lying and what they’re doing is a terrible thing for our country."

The U.S. Constitution stipulates that members of Congress cannot be impeached. .................................................

When Trump took office, he had over 3500 active lawsuits. He has been running his failed empire by tying up the courts w/frivolous lawsuits all his life. He had just lost his fraud suit, & the DOJ had to force him to settle, before they would allow him to be sworn in. Stupidity.

his latest lawyer to be under investigation for breaking campaign finance laws? The next one to go to jail (and actually "locked up", as opposed to simply busting democratic norms by threatening to imprison political rivals)?

No one believes this, but he says it to make himself feel good. Now, if SCOTUS blesses his constitution breaking ways, he will continue to worsen and this would be minor compared to the stuff he would do, like pull out of NATO to let Russia invade Ukraine, disallow all Democrats from voting (we are all criminals after all), making himself dictator for life, etc. etc.

or prosecuted for things they say and do while acting as members of Congress. It's right there in the Constitution, along with Congress' sole control over impeachment.

A lot more people to come out blowing the whistle on him , and others to start more civil lawsuits against him for everything he's done or is doing. His threats are backfiring on him from his own actions. He's too stupid to understand that people are running from him because of things like this, and his stupid threats.

Gee, I wonder why no one ever thought of that before?

Bernie Madoff could have sued prosecutors to stop the investigation and maybe the Kurds could sue Trump for damages. Hell, maybe I could sue him for undue stress on me and my family.

What an idiot. He thinks he can scare Pelosi and Schiff with the threat of a lawsuit. It's clear he uses the courts to sue anyone he can when he thinks he can drown them in paper and legal fees. That's the way he runs his businesses. He has a staff of attorneys who can bankrupt small businesses and people with legal fees.

That's just not going to work here. He's got no claim for damage. The House, pursuing its Constitutionally prescribed duty can in no way be acting in an unconstitutional manner. It's also not something in which the Judicial branch can intervene to stop the process.
