Pelosi and the Democrats to stop the investigation and impeach Trump immediately.
Why do I say it is a trap? Because of a few things.
First is the Repugnants have supported Trump in his blocking the investigation by refusing to allow federal employees to respond to lawful congressional subpoenas.
Second is because the Repugnants know that impeachment in the House is essentially meaningless as it will be dead on arrival in the Senate as only if the Senate convicts an impeached President can they be removed from office.
Moscow Mitch and all the pro Russian Repugnants in the Senate though will make damn sure that the needed number of votes will not happen though because they completely support everything he does and has done.

Strategically, I would like to see this stretch right into the 2020 campaign season. There's tons left to dig up. Along with the House inquire, there's the whole Gouliani investigation, a few spin offs from Mueller still in the works and NY state investigations. I want as much to come out and be used for maximum damage to the Republicans in the 2020 election cycle. And the idea that there's so much more wrongdoing to investigate is not only the truth, but more than enough cover politically for extending the inquire into next year. McConnell knows the Dems hold all the cards and no matter what they say and do, Dems will keep the drip drip drip of revelations coming....on top of IQ45 and his minions continually fucking it up for all Rethugs.

And I think McConnell and Rethugs outside the cult are going to counter with a "Goldwater" before Christmas. It's no secret that many, if not most Rethugs in the Senate and House weren't at all happy with 2016. And they sure as shit aren't happy now. Word I've heard is, they'll cook up some kind of no prosecution deal, including state prosecution, in exchange for his resignation. The cover being poor health. That the job just beat him down. Sure, a Dem administration in 2021 or NY state could renege on the deal, but who cares? As long as it gets the orange shit monster out of the white house and stops the continuous damage being done to the Rethug brand. They just needed political cover and Mulveny's revelation, the Syrian Kurds and some undisclosed "health issue" might be all the cover they need.

As it stands now in the Senate, Gardner, Collins and McSally are doomed. Of the 12 Dem Senate seats up in 2020, 8 are safe, 3 are competitive and only Doug Jones is a probable loss. Of 23 Republican seats, only 14 are safe, 6 are competitive and 3 are lost. The Dem majority is more than likely safe in the House. If we split the competitive Senate races down the middle, the net is 51 Dems in the Senate (including the 2 I's). Now, add to that calculus whatever crazy ass shit IQ45 will do before Nov. 2020, even after a Senate failure to convict and you see the dark future McConnell is staring into and the reason for the "Goldwater". They could lose all the competitive races and end up with an 8 seat swing to the Dems. He runs a slight but significant risk of losing his own seat unless they do something to staunch the bleeding soon.

Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.), who was the first House Republican to say he was open to consider voting to impeach President Donald Trump, announced his retirement on Saturday.

“I thought the idea was you came and did your public service and left, you accomplish what you want to accomplish and you left," Rooney said on Fox News. "And that’s what I want to be an example to do. And I’m also tired of the intense partisanship that stops us from solving the big questions that America needs solved.”

The two-term congressman confirmed his plans shortly afterward in an interview with POLITICO.

The news came one day after Rooney, a former construction company owner and major GOP donor, told CNN he couldn't dismiss the possibility that the president committed an impeachable offense in his dealings with Ukrainian officials. "I don't think you can rule anything out unless you know all the facts," he said.

Rooney, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, also called on outgoing Secretary of Energy Rick Perry to comply with a House subpoena and cooperate with the impeachment inquiry.
