Trump says US is building a wall in Colorado -- a state that doesn't border Mexico
Source: CNN
(CNN)During a speech on American energy in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, President Donald Trump ticked through his usual issues before making an unusual remark about his long-promised border wall. "We're building a wall on the border of New Mexico. And we're building a wall in Colorado," Trump said. Colorado, located directly north of New Mexico, is not on the US-Mexico border.
Trump's comments follow the Republican-controlled Senate's failure last week to overturn the national emergency declaration the President has used to pay for a wall on the US-Mexico border, a signature 2016 campaign promise. The Pentagon moved in September to divert $3.6 billion of military construction funding from 127 projects around the world to pay for 11 wall projects on the US southern border -- a move that elicited anger from several lawmakers.
Trump announced the national emergency in February after failing to persuade Congress to appropriate additional funding for the wall. Congress then rejected it and Trump responded with his first veto. By law, Congress can try to block the declaration every six months but has failed so far to override the President's decree. On Wednesday, Trump went on to say the wall would be "a big one that really works -- you can't get over, you can't get under." "We're building a wall in Texas," he said. "And we're not building a wall in Kansas, but they get the benefit of the walls that we just mentioned."
Later Wednesday, Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis responded to Trump's remarks on Twitter. "Well this is awkward ...Colorado doesn't border Mexico," Polis wrote. "Good thing Colorado now offers free full day kindergarten so our kids can learn basic geography."

I was on Google News and the article popped up with a link to Breitbart, so I decided to check their bias. The article was only a paragraph long and was factual. The comments were not...

Ask the trump supporters simple questions to see how many know more than trump. Of course, we may be surprised at the answers.

That was my first guess as to the meaning of such a claim.

(41,833 posts)Trump wants the US to be totally Republican and Red...California doesn't fit, besides the state is
filled with "Fruits and Nuts" and Trump hates all things vegetables. He thinks all bad people come from California, and there fore building a wall around it to keep them from entering sacred Nevada. Utah doesn't want Californicators entering their state, and Nevada will soon change their city names to Saint Vegas, and Saint Reno because it will be those cities leading the way
with capitalism.
All Major sports teams will be moved out of California and moved to a safer place like Canada. A star will be removed from every US Flag because California will be removed from State hood and operate on its own independently from the US. No Californian will be allowed to enter the United States and must be forced to do business with the rest of the world.
Trump says if all goes well, Washington and Oregon will be next to have border walls keeping them out. Trump believes that the people are bad people who bring in drugs and are rapists and
don't belong to the United States. As for Hawaii. it will be sold to Canada so Trump can afford
the border walls. The State of Alaska will be given back to Putin as a gift at no cost, provided that Russia will continue to help keep Trump President for Life.

(21,745 posts)For the past 3 years, we have had to deal with construction on Colorado Ave here in Colorado Springs. Now we have to deal with building a freaking wall? Screw that! I'm voting for Pence.

(25,862 posts)I live in New Mexico. Our state magazine has a regular feature called "One of our Fifty is Missing" and it's anecdotes from readers about times when others have no clue that New Mexico really is a state.
I have not yet run into that, but I'd be insufferable if I ever did. I'd demand the person pull out a map of the United States. I'd ask them to note which state keeps Arizona from crashing into Texas. Or point out (if trying to mail something) that ZIP codes are only in the United States. Or, well I'm working up a degree of rage that I'd best back down from.

(59,504 posts)maybe he made a great deal with Mexico - maybe he was told that building a wall there was easier than at the current border.
