WASHINGTON--The White House is planning to instruct federal agencies to not renew their subscriptions to the New York Times and the Washington Post, administration officials said, escalating President Trump's attacks on the media outlets.
"Not renewing subscriptions across all federal agencies will be a significant cost saving--hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars will be saved," White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in an email Thursday.

The White House plans to order all federal agencies not to renew their subscriptions to the New York Times and the Washington Post, two papers that President Trump has repeatedly attacked for their critical coverage of his administration, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The White House said on Tuesday that it would cancel its own subscriptions to the Post and the Times, after Trump complained that they were fake during an appearance this week on Fox News Hannity.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in an email to the Journal: Not renewing subscriptions across all federal agencies will be a significant cost savinghundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars will be saved.

Trump Cancels White House Subscription To Highlights Over Anti-Goofus Bias

WASHINGTONShutting down a regular monthly delivery that had been in place since the Truman administration, President Donald Trump canceled the White Houses subscription to Highlights magazine Tuesday over what he deemed to be rampant anti-Goofus bias. Everyones getting on his case all the timeGoofus has been treated very, very unfairly, said Trump, decrying the 60-year-old childrens magazines obvious pro-Gallant agenda while praising Goofus as a bright kid smart enough to look out for number one and who knew how to cut a deal. Gross Gallant is no angel either! I hear hes in bed with some pretty shady figures, I wont say who. Too bad for Highlights, a once-great publication that has gone downhill in recent years. Unfair that they never publish your drawings when you submit them. Also, I looked at that scene of the kids playing, and the second picture? No differences! None at all! And I was in that terrible maze for hours. Not good. There was clearly no exit. At press time, Trump had reversed his position and instructed an aide to renew the White Houses subscription after discovering Highlights gave him some positive press by mentioning him in a list of U.S. presidents.

And in case he thinks an E.O. exempts him from this - since E.O.s are considered delegated "legislation" then they need to meet the test of constitutionality. And his bullshit EOs tend to be completely frivolous.
(of course this is all to get attention and take the media coverage away from the Elijah Cummings event in Statuary Hall).

Oddly enough, most of us, both in the field offices and HQ, tended to find out what the heck was going on within the agency through the media!

Trump instructs federal agencies to cancel Washington Post and New York Times subscriptions
By Paul Farhi
Oct. 24, 2019 at 4:24 p.m. EDT
The Trump administration plans to cancel subscriptions to The Washington Post and the New York Times held by federal agencies, the latest sign of presidential displeasure with news coverage he deems unfair.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham told the Wall Street Journal that the White House would instruct agencies not to renew their subscriptions to the papers when they come up.
She characterized the decision as a cost-saving measure, telling the Journal that hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars will be saved by the cancellations.
Trump has made no secret of his dislike for both newspapers, dubbing the Times the failing New York Times and The Post the Amazon Washington Post in his frequent broadsides against the two news organizations.
Neither description is accurate: The Timess parent company, the New York Times Co., is highly profitable and its subscription base has been growing smartly, particularly since Trump took office. The Post is owned by Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos, but is otherwise unaffiliated with Amazon itself.

Trump turned his animus toward the Times and Post up a notch in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday, saying, We dont even want [the Times] in the White House anymore. Were going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post. Theyre fake.
The White House has already canceled its subscriptions to the papers, according to several accounts.
