Darrell Issa Won't Halt 'Fast and Furious' Probe

Source: Roll Call

At 471 pages - based on 100,000 documents and more than 130 interviews - the highly critical Justice Department Office of the Inspector General report on the "Fast and Furious" scandal is thorough.

But that doesn't mean the issue is finished on Capitol Hill.

House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is vowing to continue pursuing Attorney General Eric Holder's contempt of Congress citation in court and said the report is all the more reason to continue his own probe with new zeal.

Issa will "absolutely" continue pursuing the civil lawsuit attempting to compel Holder to hand over more documents about the gun-running investigation, spokesman Frederick Hill said.

This is more of the "hell no we ain't forgett'n" payback for shaming the R's by investigating Iran-Contra.

Republicans have no problem spending taxpayer money when it comes to political witch hunts.

One good thing is that in doing this Issa has just made himself irrelevant by ignoring the facts in this matter, and no one except the crazies will believe a thing he says.

And a few in the Gungeon who parrot the same line that Issa does.

The F&F guns were a drop in the bucket. The real crime here is the NRA and the policies it stands for, which are directly responsible for arming the Mexican drug cartels, and thus causing thousands of the needless deaths along the Mexican border. All of the outrage about F&F by right-wingers is politically motivated -- if anyone in the NRA crowd actually cared about the loss of lives, they wouldn't be so vehemently opposed to the changed in gun policy that pretty much every expert has agreed are necessary to stem the flow of illegal guns to Mexico.

And I'm certainly not going to apologize for being on the side that wants fewer victims of violence involving guns.

As to my earlier point: Check out the DU threads involving the last dozen mass shooting incidents in the U.S. (unfortunately, you won't have to go that far back in time). How many sympathetic comments do you see from our resident Gun Enthusiasts? Very few, because it doesn't fit your agenda. Once you folks find out the make, model and caliber of the weapons used (and pull your usual shit-fit about the evil, anti-gun media not getting those details in hyper-correct fashion), that seems to be the extent of your interest---except when there's a Democrat to be trashed. Nobody is fooled by any of this......

Here I've had that closet full of guns for decades now, and all that time I was supposed to be afraid of them? They were supposed to make me miserable? Imagine my surprise.

Helpful guideline: Guns don't kill people, people do. (I just came up with that one.) A 9mm semi-auto pistol isn't frightening, but the gun politics of droolers like Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter, Wayne LaPierre and the latest version of Mitt Romney are scary as hell. A .223 rifle isn't frightening, but the mindset which sees such a rifle as incomplete without a 30-round magazine and a bayonet lug is something to be concerned about. Got all that? You're welcome......

Sometime after that, Darrell Issa had an extremely suspicious fire in a building he owned. The fire broke out right after he had tripled the value of the insurance he was carrying on the building. Insurance investigators were suspicious but they couldn’t prove anything." from who hijacked our country.
